Review Notes: I received six of these 5 Vegas Classic Torpedos as freebies when I purchased my box of Gold Nuggets (reviewed previously). I've smoked three of 'em so far and it's indicative of how a appearance can make a cigar but the flavor can break it. Pre-light, the dark wrapper is beautiful to look at, with a glossy sheen, and a toothy texture. Likewise, the pre-light roma is very enticing. Construction-wise, the pointed tips are tightly rolled to a sharp point, but after snipping, the draw has been perfect every time. Post-light, the Torpedo makes itself known right away with blasts of black pepper. Unfortunately, the great pepper taste is spoiled in short order with what to my palate is the very off-putting funky flavor of something like charred plastic. Every sample so far has suffered from this, including a Robusto size in this line that I've tried since then. Thus despite more than a few honest efforts, I unfortunately just can't recommend these.

Review Notes: Loved this cigar. Great construction, burn, aroma and flavours. Not overly complex, but very satisfying. Will always find a spot for them in my humidor.

Review Notes: Let this one sit in the humidor for about two weeks without the cellophane. Great burn and draw (my favorite thing about 5 Vegas). The flavor was fairly plain with a hint of spice, nothing special here. Mild bodied with lots of smoke and no harshness. Also had very pleasant aroma. I wish this had a little more going on in terms of flavor, because all of its other qualities were excellent.

Review Notes: Nothing special here, and for the price, I'm sure you can find more flavorful cigars.

Review Title: I want to like these, I really do

Review Notes: I bought a 5-pack of 5-Vegas Torpedoes about 6 months ago. The initial try was not good, bitter with a questionable burn. About once a month I'd give them another try. Today I smoked the last one. Most of the burn issues were solved with time, however the bitterness lingers. It's a shame, too. These could have been an affordable cigar to smoke without care to expense and budgets. I really hoped each time I lit one up I would be pleasantly surprised, but it never happened. They don't produce enough smoke and they are BITTER. I usually love a Sumatran wrapper, and being the eternal optimist I'll give these one more chance. It seems so many people like this cigar, how come I keep getting a bitter taste? If I really try I can imagine that the bitterness has faded over the 6 months and 5 cigars, and they just need more age.
