Review Notes:
I'm amazed this cigar is rated so highly. Is everyone impressed that it's an okay Fuente for 3 bucks?
I admit: I bought it because it was an A. Fuente for 3 bucks. I figured, what could it hurt? The other cigars in their line I've had have been great, if a bit overpriced. They wouldn't release garbage under this label would they??
Turns out they would. It was terrible, terrible terrible. When people say a cigar starts out sweet, I'm pretty sure this isn't what they had in mind. It is literally so sweet that the taste was comparable to the taste of Sprite, without the fizz, though. Strong, and incredibly sweet, I thought it had to be artificially flavored. I'll assume that it wasn't based on the label though. It's hard to believe that natural tobacco could possibly be this sweet though.
I kept hoping for the overpowering sweet flavor to go away. Once I was down to the last 3rd, it started evening out and developed a little complexity. There was wood and cinnamon, but the sweet taste was still there, even if in the background.
To make things worse: it had the hardest draw I've ever had on a cigar, but I persisted and again, it got decent by the last 3rd.
It was slightly dry, but a repeat performance with a humidified stick was had.
If A. Fuente wants to get kids smoking more, or convince more women to take up the habit, this is the stick they should be pushing. Perhaps a wrapper with a cartoon character?
I'm trying to tell myself that this is too harsh, but I've had three now, and the homeless would prefer half-smoked Marlboro's to this garbage.
