"A top shelf option"

Review Notes: I had two of these in the fabulous El Gaucho Cigar Room (Seattle) and no doubt the atmoshere shaped my experience. I way over-paid for it as a "single" off their menu, but in truth, it was a step up from my usual ERDM Robusto Oscuro. The flavor was complex with a hint of baker's chocolate. Great smoke aroma and plenty of thick white swirls with each draw. The wonderfully tight ash would have held the full 5" I think, had I not compulsively tapped it off after 2". The burn (started expertly by the lovely cigar-girl, Ashley) was even, the stick never got "hot", and the flavor never "went over" at the end. I'll probably not drop the $180 for a box, but I will pick up a couple here and there for special occasions. No complaints whatsoever.

Review Notes: This cigar burned nicely and was fairly robust, I'd call it a medium+ body. It was consistently clean and smooth with a quality maduro flavor to it, but was otherwise pretty plain. I had to purge it twice, and it turned harsh at about 1.5 inches. Not bad, but not a good value.

Review Notes: First few pulls a little dry and bitter, the rest was fairly complex and bittersweet. Burn was pretty close to excellent, and there was lots of smoke. Would try again.

Review Notes: this was the first ashton maduro i have smoked. i went to the shop to get some RyJ reserve maduros but they were out and recomended this. nice smooth appearance, well made, easy to light. the flavor was very unique; not quite like anything ive had before. very creamy with a little charcol/chocolate flavor. i had to put it out about half way down (little brother in the car), but about a 1/4 inch into the relight, the draw got real tight, ended up throwing almost half the cigar out. thats a shame too at the price.

"Excellent medium-bodied maduro"

Review Notes: I had read some other reviews noting it to be a mildish cigar, from which I did *not* expect something really good. However, on light it was nicely earthy and cocoa/maduro in flavor and progressed to a solid medium+ bodied maduro. This cigar, the RyJ Reserve Maduros and Torano 1959's really define to me a good maduro. The other two are a little stronger, but this was clean and smooth with fine flavor (but little complexity) to the last 1.5" where it turned a bit harsh. Except for the price I would turn to this every time for a solid maduro, but I think the Torano 1959 Robusto is about as good at half the price.
