Review Notes: First , let me say I got one of these sticks in a sampler from Thompson (sic) Cigar about 9 months ago. It has been sitting in the bottom of one of my humidors since then. 2nd, I never would have bought one on my own. I go a lot by advertising in the catalog, (sic) and Thompson rates this as mild to medium, they sell a bundle of 16 for $39.00 so I dont know much about this cigar, if it is sold nationwide of one of their store brands made especially for them. Not having known this until reading the catalog after I had lit it up, I am reporting this to you folks now. Anyways....... my first impression when I looked at this cigar, sitting down to smoke it, knowing nothing at all about the brand or this stick, my first impression was, "This is going to be very mild, since the criollo wrapper was so light colored , almost tan. However I did notice excellent construction, and very small veins and very pretty. The cigar seemed a little dry when removed from the humidor, but I decided to clip it anyway, and smoke it. I usually smoke one good cigar a day, and one dud , dud meanings smokes I dont usually care for but that I bought in my earlier days before having much knowledge. Let me also say, I dont like mild cigars very much. Nevertheless, I clipped it and it didnt fall apart!. LOL. Ok, the cigar lit easily and from the first puff, great draw, loads of smoke and this cigar was NOT MILD! I would classify it medium to full body, closer to full body. Thompson's catalog, may I remind you classified it as mild plus. The cigar had some nice flavors, I cant really describe it, but it was strong, yet not harsh. The cigar burned very well and I never had to relight or touch it up. The ash was not real solid and did get flaky and spikey a bit, with a few blooms coming off ( I dont remember the term) it, but it was more amusing rather than a problem. All in all, I was happily surprised with this smoke. I took the band off (it was set fairly low on the stick) but didnt smoke it to the nub, though i could have smoked it another 10-15 minutes I think, but my g/f who was also smoking a cigar , was ready to go inside. It had not gotten bitter when I quit it, with about 2 1/2 inches left. I smoked this while sipping on some Arbor Mist (cheap) wine, and the experience was pleasant. Once again I think Thompson misrepresented this cigar, but describing it wrong. I would definately smoke it again, but I usually smoke 60 diameter cigars (Nubs) and dont like the looks usually of a 7 X 48 which the call a churchill I think it was more like 7 X 46. However for just $2.43 a stick, it is a very good value! The cigar is double banded, with a decent gold band protecting the foot. I will definately smoke another one if I am ever offered one, or I get one in a sampler.

Review Notes: I also picked up five of these, nice deal on an auction. Augusto Reyes + Criollo sounded like a winning combination. Great construcion, appearance and draw, perfect burn, nice solid salt and pepper ash. Speaking of pepper, yeah, that was the predominant taste the first third. After that, more complex, smoother and a little more leather. Nice midday smoke if you have a little time and it'll even hold its own after dinner. I'll pick up more for the humi.

"Quite a nice smoke"

Review Notes: Ihad a fiver of this in the Churchill size. I smoked all 5 of the sticks. My thoughts on this are: Pepper was the dominant taste for the first third. It is a GOOD peppery taste. After the first third other tastes were evident of an earthy type. My palate is not good enough to pull tastes out. BUT...I do say that this is a complex cigar with many levels of taste. I removed the band on each of these five so I could smoke it down. I thoroughly enjoyed the CRIOLLO CHURCHILL and will have some again. Tom
