Review Notes: I've tried just about everything Bahia has ever made, including the famed late 90's Bahia Gold which was a great cigar (too bad they changed the blend later, the newer one is bad). It seems like the Insignias is Tony's attempt to recapture some of that magic, and I have to say that although it doesn't taste much like the old Gold blend, it's by far the best cigar Bahia has out right now and maybe the 2nd best ever to the original Gold. Has a real dark wrapper that has an unusually salty taste to it. Some may not like that but I do. The filler is Costa Rican which may throw some for a loop; it doesn't taste like your typical cigar. Extremely complex. Earthy, salty, grassy, floral, chocolate and spice predominate. Not really overpowering but this is no weak cigar either. If you've tried other Bahias before you'll recognize the taste here. Imagine a Bahia Gold Maduro that has a much more complex and quality taste and you've got this cigar. Burn and construction are typical very good Bahia. This is an excellent cigar but I think Tony needs to knock the price down a bit if he wants this to sell. When (and if) word ever gets out more about this cigar I suspect you will see this put Bahia back in the spotlight.
