Review Notes: Sweet floral tobacco & barnyard aroma. Musty, slightly spicy cold draw. 1st- Deep, gritty earth, little bit of white pepper. Mild, dried cherry sweetness from the CT broadleaf Maduro. Not much else going on and its easy to tell its a cheap cigar. Draw is tight, putting out very minimal, thin airy smoke, even burn. Wrapper is so incredibly thin from the maduro process that its busting and breaking all over the place. Fifteen puffs or so in all flavor is lost and the cigar goes completely flat.

"Fantastic Smoke!"

Review Notes: I first smoked a Bahia Maduro in 1997 and since then I have enjoyed them more than any other smoke. Superb draw and great taste. For the price you can't expect the same taste as a $20.00 smoke...but the taste is there. Go figure. I have always enjoyed smoking these sticks and will for many more years.

"An Excellent Inexpensive Maduro - try one!"

Review Notes: Included in the 13 cigar Black Friday Sampler from CI. The least expensive of the bunch, this is certainly better than many. In fact it is an attractive, good burning stick. I had no problems with it and it lasted about an hour and fifteen minutes and I smoked it to the nub. Masos of 20 can be purchesded for $34.99. Any hints of sweetness in the wrapped disappointed a bit too quickly, and became one dimensional smokey cedar, with not much spice. i would consider this medium plus bodied. Ash was very dark charcoal, one of the darkest I have seen but firm. First ash fell off at about 1 1/2- 2 inches. When I buy more of these samplers, I will look forward to smoking it. I tend to smoke cheaper cigars either when I dont know if I will have time to finish it, or when the mood hits me to economize. I probably wont buy a bundle, but would definately recommend it to those who only smoke sub $2 cigars.

"Baseball Glove"

Review Notes: I remember my first year of little league (43 years ago) standing in right field bored to death, hoping that no balls came my way. While standing out there, I sometimes found myself chewing the leather string on my oversized glove; trying to get it to fit tighter on my small hand. The taste of the leather string remains in my memory more so than the games. This cigar brought those memories back even more clear than they already were. The construction of this stick was very good. The ash held for over half the length of the cigar. The draw was almost perfect, with a burn that was straight until the end of the smoke. The flavor was downright baseball glove. I got no spice, sweetness, or anything else but leather. So if cigars with a strong leather flavor are your desire, this one should be in your humidor.

"Not Like the Old Ones Made in Costa Rica"

Review Notes: Some of the original Maduros were great; dark oily wrappers and complex flavors. I also had a shade wrapper Gigante one New Year's Eve that was quite memorable. Now they feature a 3rd rate elephant skin wrapper, and no real discernable flavor.
