"In the running"

Review Notes: In my efforts to redefine my favorite robustos, I would say Bolivar is back in the running for top 5. Past experiences with this gar were less than stellar. Upon "light up" it had a strong mineral kick. Thank god it was a slow burner, because that taste soon faded away. Nice wrapper, good cap, great color, nice feel, sweet hickory under tones. Smooth overall with some complexity. The finish is just right. Flavors linger long enough to appreciate without becoming annoying.

Review Notes: Had a couple of these last year, recently a couple fresher cigars turned to ash. Solidly constructed with medium body smoke. A top 5 robusto and perhaps top 3 when aged.

Review Notes: I got a new box in last week--I try to keep a steady supply of these as they're my favorites. So now that I've betrayed my bias, I am happy to report that these are as bold, complex, and flavorful as those to which I've become accustomed. Oh, and smooooooooothe.

"Pretty Good"

Review Notes: I have had several draw and/or burn problems with this cigar lately. Even at its best, this cigar is no Partagas Serie D or Cohiba. I would lump it in with the Ramon Allones Specially Selected as a fairly consistent performer that lacks the complexity of the very best cuban robustos mentioned above. Frankly, the flavor reminds me of many of the Opus X cigars I've had. Strong, spicy, but kind of lacking an encore of secondary flavors. If you are looking for a solid cuban cigar at a value price, this may be right up your alley.

"Slightly Disappointed"

Review Notes: My first BRC was a great smoking experience(see my comments) but the ones after that were less than brilliant: I blamed for #2, bought in Juan Les Pins, the bad french habit of over-humidification and the lack of an available torch (I had big problems in relighting it, I was on the beach..) but for #3 no excuse: it just came out of my best humidor, I had a torch and no wind, I was at home. Honestly, it was not bad, but it was a bit dull, like it had a filter. The flavors were there, but "distant", toned-down. Nice look but not flawless construction, I am sorry to downrate it. Maybe it's just a problem of incosistency or of age.
