"CAO Gold Maduro"

Review Notes: This is a review of the Gold Maduro, since they don't have a separate listing for that brand (it's relatively new). It should be noted that I'm still something of a rookie when it comes to maduros. I bought a box of these, and this was the first that I've smoked. They came through the mail, and I figured they should rest awhile in my humidor after their trip. I probably should have let them soak a little longer, but I was impatient to try one. So I took this one out after two and half weeks and lit it up. It was a little harsh when first lit, but smoothed out quickly. The draw was fine and the burn was fairly even, but the ash broke twice at just an inch. It was well constructed, although they could have been a little bit more generous with the cap. The flavor was pretty much straight forward tobacco flavor with some earth and peat flavors. At times I thought I tasted nutmeg, but if I did it was just a hint. There were a couple of spots in the stick where I hit a pocket of really creamy, slightly coffee flavored smoke. The aftertaste wasn't bad at all. It didn't blow me away, but I think if I let them sit a little longer it will prove to be money well spent.

"Not bad..."

Review Notes: ...though definitely not as good as the CAO Gold double coronas that I bought. This had a grassier flavor that wasn't as smooth and the smoke was definitely more acrid. A decent mild/morning smoke, this one definitely requires some aging to make it a truly good smoke.

"A Plain Average Cigar ... Not Quite Worth $5"

Review Notes: I bought these on a nice special a few years back, 10 glass tube Churchill CAO Gold for $20. I do not believe they are normally sold tubed, this was just a one time special. I am glad I didn't pay the current asking price of $4-$5. It is well rolled, good draw. A nice, golden wrapper, with quite a few veins. Started off very tasty for the first inch, then mellowed out into a rather boring, mild straight-forward tobacco flavor. Perhaps just the teeniest hint of bread dough, if one uses the imagination. It was creamy and smooth. It is not a bad cigar, but rather bland. There are better cigars out there at this price range. I would not buy more at the price that they are going for. But I will smoke the rest of the batch I have. Just a plain, average to fairly good cigar.

Review Notes: Most of my experience with CAO sticks has not been good. But the Gold Churchill was outstanding. Great mellow taste that Josh, below me, has summed up perfectly. Cinnamon, spice, pears, and even som banana. Excellent burn, perfect draw, and good appearance. One of my all-time favorite mild cigars, now. They hit a homer with this one, and at $5.25, It's a great deal. Got a little funky tasting on the last 1/5, but it was still tasty and the other 4/5 definitely more than made up for it.

"Great Mild Cigar"

Review Notes: Probably the best mild cigar I've ever had. While it is mild, I wouldn't categorize it as super mild. This cigar is great as a churchill. Great for when you have time for a long smoke, but not in the mood for something strong. Great smoke
