Review Notes:
This cigar was nicely made. The burn was almost perfect. It had a nice white ash. The flavors started off with the usual DPG kick of pepper, it also had an earthy, floral touch when passed through the nose. My only complaint is as I find with all DPG cigars is the first half inch is phenomenal then you kind of get whatever you get for the rest of the way. This cigar was good for the rest of the journey. After the spicy, earthiness in the first third, it kind of mellows out in the second third, I got a nutty, leathery flavor, with a slighty spiciness on the back of the tongue. The finish was a slightly caramel, sweetness that didn't last too long. The last third was a little more harsh on the leather. It had a pretty nice nicotine kick too I was a little lightheaded when I got to the end.

Review Notes:
Superbly made overall, but the wrapper unravelled 10 minutes in. Too mild and one dimensional. Evokes a Cuban cigar in a very subtle way...note of cedar. Overpriced at MSRP and at the $4.25 I paid. Check out an Arganese Connecticut or Occidental Reserve for better value, IMHO.

Review Notes:
Another Pete Johnson creation is the Cabaiguan label. I picked up a Robusto Extra at my local cigar shop just on a hunch. The cigar has a rich tan color, very few veins and is wonderfully made with a nice triple cap. Back at the house, it was time for the torch, but first there was the feel, smell, and cold draw which are a must in the experience. There were no soft spots in the construction; the smell was rich with some sweetness and the cold smoke gave the same sensations. After the light, the first draw produced tons of smoke and the draw was perfect. Some leather and pepper flavor started off the smoke along with hints of rich tobacco. It was mild bodied, with a touch of sweetness and oh so smooth. During the second stage the cigar migrated to more of a woody flavor with a complement of cedar tones and some tastes I just couldn’t define. It was more of a medium body but the richness of the cigar was sure pleasure. The burn was consistent and the ash was dark gray, only falling 3 times during the experience. Burning towards the small band, some nuts appeared along with spices, but the richness continued with no harshness even to the last finger burning pull. It wasn’t a complex cigar, but it didn’t have to be. The slight changes were enough to keep it interesting and the overall flavors were valiant and balanced with a delicious finish. The problem with buying just one is that I want another. Although a little pricy at around $8 each, this one deserves another try to see if it’s what I hope it is.

Review Notes:
I have never had a cigar as satisfying as the cabaiguan. This line has a delicious spice, clove, cinammon, nutmeg combined with little of that cuban twang. As good a smoke as I have ever had. Great construction and perfect burn, a taste profile that made me almost want to eat the cigar instead of smoking it.
