"Expected more flavor"

Review Notes: This square pressed beauty looked dark and delicious. An exceptional burn that didn't need to be touched up. The taste is where this otherwise gorgeous cigar starts to falter. I was struggling to find any hints of complex flavors normally found in a premium cigar. This cigar starts out with woodsy notes and finishes with a dry burnt wood aftertaste. I agree with some of the other reviewers that the flavor didn't improve and actually got worse during the last third of the cigar. Don't let this cigars good looks fool you, the taste will disappoint.

"Wish it tastes as good as it looks"

Review Notes: With its big pressed shape and dark wrapper, this cigar is eye candy. No. 5 in Cigar Aficionado's top 25 cigars of 2006. It has a prettty good draw but an erratic burn. It's medium-bodied (like most Torano products)with wood and cocoa flavors that unfortunately turn charry in the later stages of the smoke. Although it doesn't taste as good it looks, it's still an OK smoke at a reasonable price especially for the size.

"Great first half, not so great second..."

Review Notes: I picked one of these up for an afternoon smoke since the weather has been so nice lately. A pretty good looking stick. Smooth, lightly veined wrapper with a sharp box press. The cap was sloppy looking but it still cut just fine. Opened up with cedar notes and leather on the finish. Draw was super tight until after the first ash. After that things went beautifully. Very unique flavor, sort of a sweet bread taste to the smoke. Burn was perfect as well. Then I set it down at the half way point to go inside and help the wife unload groceries....... When I returned it had put itself out which didn't surprise me since I had been gone for a bit. Re-light was easy but but the burn went downhill and it began to tunnel almost immediately. After correcting this it began to burn badly and would not stay lit unless I was chugging away. Occasionally I could let it sit long enough to cool down and the sweet flavor would return but would require a re-light after that. Finally, with about an inch and a half to go it went out again and I didn't bother to re-light. I plan on trying another one of these in the near future but probably a smaller size that I'll be able to put away without having to get up for anything. I mean for the price why not? It was a great tasting smoke that deserves another shot. Just my two cents.

"Good if it smokes"

Review Notes: The cigar has good characteristics if it isn't plugged. Draw is the only complaint I would have. It was a very highly rated cigar by Cigar Aficionado. I bought a box and many of them would not smoke properly.

"Very nice"

Review Notes: I enjoyed this well made cigar. The 1959 Gold has a nice flavor of unsweetened chocolate, a flawless burn and is a very pretty box dark pressed torpedo. I heard Carlos Torano claim the Gold Exodus has his favorite in the line and I can see why. However, I like the Silver 1959 and the 1916 Cameroon just a little better.
