Review Notes:
This cigar was the one that got me back into cigar smoking. Prior to tasting this cigar about a year ago, I had a half box of Don Thomas cigars in my humidor, and would occasionally smoke on the golf course. I’m 28 now, and I have been smoking cigars since I was 18. This was gifted to me by a friend. The fact that it was a maduro Cuban really sparked my interest. First off it was the darkest Cuban cigar I’d seen to that point. Perhaps the Partagus Series D #4 was the only other one that I have personally smoked that compared. The wrapper looked like a dark choclate bar, and the Maduro 5 band was also a new look. Upon lighting, there is a mellow spice, with chocolate and burnt leather. Towards the middle, it becomes a flavorful powerhouse. Lots of smoke, at times a little to strong, but for me, I like a cigar that burns cool, but can over power me a bit, as to leave its mark so I remember it. Suffice to say, after this cigar, I promptly picked up a box, and have filled my humidor with over 200 different sticks for all occasions. Simply put, if you are a cigar smoker whether casual or everyday, these sticks will make you remember why you decided to start smoking in the first place. They provide a moment of inner reflection and a temporary escape from everything around you…and oh yeah, it goes great with scotch!
