Review Notes: This was worth half the price. I'd be equally pleased with a Dunill or even a Flor de Olivia Grand Cameroon.

"Pretty good, not great"

Review Notes: Being a huge fan of the OpusX and Hemingway series, I had high hopes for this one. The local tobacconist recommended it as an alternative to the Opus since they're so hard to come by. Wrapper is nice, shiny, golden brown, and fairly smooth; cap is superb. Light was easy, draw near perfect, and burn was consistent. Flavor reminded me of the Opus a bit... probably the closes I have smoked. However, it's still NOT an Opus. Like many JC Newman smokes, this one also has something of a generic chalky/smoky undertone which doesn't work for me. On the plus side, there's a nice hint of sweet and spice. I just wish there was a little heartier flavor for the price. It does produce copius amounts of smoke. You could do worse, though I didn't feel this was good enough to justify the price.

"Expensive but Outstanding"

Review Notes: Made my first trip to the Cuesta Ray Cigar bar at Tropicana Field. Never tried a Cuesta Ray before so I was very curious. It was an expensive smoke but that was to be expected considering the venue. The construction was flawless and the experience was superb, even without the attractive cigar girls waiting on me hand, foot and lighter. I topped it off with a double crown royal and sunk into the leather couches for a relaxing smoke. It took me a little more than an hour to enjoy this cigar, and I have since bought a box for my humidor. This will replace the Opus X as my holiday cigar (not that I'll give it up, since it was my first love) and has a revered place in my humidor. They can be hard to find but I managed to get a box of 20 for $220 with shipping. Considering I won't smoke these up as fast as my daily sticks, I'm enjoying the view as they sit on the top shelf of my humidor.
