Review Notes:
Before you start thinking that this is a "6" on the scale, think again. Time and time again I hear from friends and forum members that these cigars are so-so off the truck, but OOOOOHHH SOOOOOO good if you age them for about a month at 65%RH. I can echo that experience. They are a firm, tight cigar, which makes the burn even and the pull a little labored, but manageable. They have the look of an old Habana cigar you see in old movies. Just well made and have a woody/leather flavor that simply put these as an everyday smoke with class. Superb!

Review Notes:
This is a good smoke, just not for the price. A good $2-$3 dollar smoke, but at around $4-$5.50 just not worth it. Nice cinnomon spice to start, which slowly builds to about the 1/3 point. The final 2/3rds is very woody with a mild tobacco finish. Had some construction issues with burn quality and plugs.

Review Notes:
I didn't favor this smoke. A very Macanudo approach made this cigar... mistakable. I couldn't pin point anything special in the faint flavors and overly hot burn. MATASA let me down again. So far only the standard Fonseca has gone over well for me, and thats still a very simple mild smoke.
Pretty wrapper though!

Review Notes:
This is a nice looking cigar. The wrapper is slightly rough and sun grown looking without oils. There is the standard Fonseca band of the white F on a red background, surrounded by gold. This is followed by a second band in gold and black with Habana Seleccion in red. Its slightly veiny and has a nice thick flat cap. Prelight aroma is minimal. Prelight draw is good and produces a slight tingly effect.
The initial draws bring back similarities to the VSG with the sweet earthy flavor and spice. the draw is good, but smoke volume is light. There are definitely similarities to the VSG here, but the smoke also produces a long sweet loamy finish that has a drying effect on the palette.
The initial peppery kick quickly subsides, but the smoke retained a touch of zestiness. As it smokes, the flavors tended to fade in and out, sometimes producing a very very light dusting of flavor. So far this is a medium bodied smoke that is mild\med in strength. It doesn’t keep my attention like a Padilla or Pepin, nor does it have their strength or peppery kick. However, the favors are nice, albeit muted.
The burn is straight and the cigar produced a solid light grey ash. The aroma is subtle, with a slight sweet spiciness. Approaching the mid point I got an occasional touch of annise with toasty undertones.
The cigar kicks up nicely at the mid point with an increase in spice and cedar. Still med strength but now a much fuller more fulfilling flavor. Much more VSG like. Would like to try this in a smaller ring gauge because this flavor might be more consistent throughout the smoke. The finish is now long spicy and cedary, very enjoyable.

Review Notes:
From the first puff I knew I has something very unusual. Maybe I just got one of the rare ones because this thing smacked of old time Cuba. A power packed number unlike the Fonsecas of recent. A flowery undertone to a strong, straight forward tobacco flavor. Like I said, maybe this one was the exception to the rule, but I will keep right on trying until they prove me wrong.
