Review Notes:
The Graycliff 1666 Pirate is one of those cigars that newbies (not a shot, just a description) often "step up" to. After fumbling away with "too good to be true" deals on dog rockets (do you know why they call them this, I do, cool story)...they eventually buy a Graycliff 1666, often in a sample pack from "that site." It is a noble attempt and one could do much much worse. I would not categorize this cigar as exceptional, but I will say it is a giant step up from 90% of the cigars that can be found in similar deals on the internets. A nice, fairly complex smoke, that changes from 1st to 2nd to final third. Creamy delicious plumes, with hints of cedar, fudge, spice, and nutmeg. It's Bahamian roots add another level of mystery. Not the prettiest cigar in your humi most likely, but one that seems to always deliver with pleasurable consistency. I have smoked perhaps 10 of these, and believe that if found "on sale" or "in a sampler" it is a deal in and of itself. I feel this gar has an almost beachy quality to it, it is somewhat aloof, whimsical, but will always come through when others fail. Pairs well with mellow beers, iced coffee (if that is your thing), water, diet coke, and just maybe a baileys on ice. Enjoy this newbies, you will realize that few cigars at twice the the cost will deliver with such purity.
