"Gurkha Centurion 7 x 56"

Review Notes: Starting off the 1st quarter, nice spice followed by bold pepper (too much), then it mellows down to a nice smooth creamy taste, with lingering leather. Half way through, spice kicks up (not too much) with hints of pepper, leather, and nice creamy undertone. I didn't taste Oak at all. Overall, not bad, but like spice with cream......the pepper was a turn off in the beginning, but blended better through the remainder of the smoke.

"I really like it"

Review Notes: Ok, I'm relatively new to the cigar world and this is my first review. This is probably my overall favorite smoke. I have to agree with most other posters in that it is pretty one-dimensional, however, for me that one-dimension is excellent, so I enjoy it. Most of the other Gurkha cigars that I've had definitely have had construction issues, but I've never had any problems with this one. Sometimes the burn runs uneven, but it resets itself. I've never had one that had any bitterness to it.

Review Notes: Over the past 12 months I have enjoyed about 1/2 dozen of these. An enjoyable smoke. Just had another tonight with a bourbon. I should treat myself to these more often. A mellow taste, no pepper (thank you) easy draw, and a nice medium smoke from start to finish

"Decent, but not "Worthy of a Sultan""

Review Notes: Flashy band and nice perfecto shape. Easy to light, but you have to stay on it to keep it lit for the first half of the cigar or it’s going to go out in an instant. Draw is firm. Burn is uneven and does not correct itself. Almost immediately after lighting, the wrapper started to develop cracks halfway down the cigar. The cracks worsened, and the wrapper began to unravel slightly, but fortunately this stopped after a little bit and didn’t interfere with the burn. The initial flavor is intensely spicy, but this gradually fades into a milder, pleasant spiciness. It is quite mellow, in fact, and the spice is consistently present but not too harsh. There is also a distinct toastiness that is particularly evident in the pleasantly mellow, but short-lived, finish. Becomes more rich and fuller-bodied toward the center, and an oak flavor becomes significant. Overall, the flavor is very mellow, pleasant and well-balanced, but it is one-dimensional as there are no flavors other than those basic ones mentioned. I got this as part of a sampler for CI for $2.99, and for that price it is a decent smoke (cigars this well-balanced and mellow are hard to find at that price) but the MSRP of $20-30 is ridiculous. Despite the construction issues (uneven burn and defective wrapper) this cigar overall isn’t bad, but it is definitely not “worthy of a sultan” as advertised (this cigar is advertised as having been the daily cigar of the Sultan of Brunei).
