Review Notes: This big bastid was sheathed in a lovely rosado colored wrapper with golden highlights. There was a curve to its length and a small dent in the side and I also noticed two small holes, one near the head and one near the foot. The wrapper had a nice oily sheen to it and there were widely scattered patches of tooth. The cap was flopped over the head almost like an afterthought. I clipped the cap and looked inside to see a rainbow of filler with brown, green, and golden leaves bunched in the heart of the stick. A small dry puff produced the type of pre light aroma I associate with Honduran products. The stick sprang to life with a quick blast of tastes. Medium strong, it had a sapwood backbeat with a melody of other flavors that included Vienna roast coffee, dark and smoky, and a flinty note. The finish started tart and then faded smoothly. The first tang was like nibbling lemon zest and then a nice varnished hardwood smoothness emerged, almost reminiscent of a freshly finished bowling alley. The light gray ash flaked and peeled but stayed mostly put until one and a half inches when I tapped it to the ground. There were quite a few sound effects to the burn with crackling and popping coming from deep inside. As the cigar went along the flavor matured and changed. At the halfway point the flavor became more mellow, but it still reminded me awfully of a Villazon with that signature blend. I had a diet Coke on ice with this and the carbonation livened it up a bit. I may be crazy, but even the aroma whispered Honduran secrets as the mellow scent glided past on light blue billows of slightly sweet smoke. There were several mild hints of ammonia at various points in the cigar but it was never offensive, just noticeable. The stick softened a bit as it burned and the flavors built in the second half but it was never overpowering. This was a very decent medium bodied, medium strength cigar that lasted almost an hour and a half. Altogether it was a very pleasant way to spend the afternoon. Recommended.
