"Flat Press"

Review Notes: This is one Gurkha that I like AND I can buy at a decent price, most are astronomical in the pricing dept. This is a flat press cigar and feels a bit odd in the hand, but fits the mouth like a dream. The const. is perfect and the burn is razor sharp. The first few puffs are a chocolate and spice flavor that I really like, then a sweetness comes along as a nice compliment. There is also a slight nutiness to round out the profile. I find the strength to be med. to med.-full. As with all Gurkha's the ingrediants are top notch.

"Pretty Good"

Review Notes: Pretty decent cigar. Prelight aroma was excellent and smelled sweet. Draw was easy and top notch. The taste is mild-medium, probably more towards mild. The first third had lots of flavor and left tastes of nuttiness. The middle part was also the same, but more flavor and buttery also, which I liked. Slightly peppery too. I stopped at the beginning of the last third. I kept admiring the long white ash it produced throughout, and the burn was quite even. Contruction was above average on this one. I cut it was a Xikar X2, which I put flat on a table to get an even cut. I cut it this way 2x and on the second cut it unraveled slightly, which could be my fault. I had high standards for this, given my great experience with the Nepalese Warrior. I have to say I prefer the Nepalese Warrior over this in the end but all in all still a good smoke. One gripe is the band which is big and you probably have to take it off to enjoy the last third.

Review Notes: I too won the same auction as the one before me. 10 for $22. That is tough to beat. Its a straight forward smoke with a Rich base and undertones of earth and coco. Good construction and burn.

"Pretty nice"

Review Notes: Like most gurkha's, it had a nice appearance. Nice silky, dark wrapper. Next to no veins. This stick was on the medium to full side, with hints of spice. Taste is good but nothing too overly exciting. Good draw, and produced a ton of nice smoke. Nice aroma as well. Paid $22 for 10 pack on CB which makes them very nice for the money. The only draw back was I had a few construction problems, which I seem to have with a lot of gurkha's. The wrappers tend to come apart at times. Nothing too bad but can get annoying. Never have problems with other brands out of same humi, just the gurkhas. My buddy has told me he has same problems with this brand as well. Could be something to look out for.....

"Not for the faint"

Review Notes: I haven't read a ton about Gurkha, other than it is a boutique brand, it is a more expensive than some smokes, and it generally gets good reviews. After my experience, I believe the reviews are totally just and deserved. The cigar is worth every dollar paid, and at the $3.20 I paid, that is one of the best values of which I am aware. The cigar is very exotic looking- a nice dark brown wrapper with the beautiful band that exudes an eastern Asian vibe. The cigar is totally well-named as Gurkha. No substantial veins, great rectacular shape, firm feel, and a perferct draw for me (just enough resistance) seem to exhibit that the cigar was constructed very well. On pre-light, I knew I was in for something interesting. The wrapper didn't smell overly spicy, but a draw through the cigar made me cough and nearly took my breath away from the spice. I must admit I was a little worried about lighting this cigar. Upon lighting, however, I immediately got a burst of cumin, black pepper, a touch of licorice/anise over a base flavor of very dark, rich coffee. I was wowed with the complexity and deliciious taste. Coupled with the great cup of Kona coffee I was drinking, the taste was amazing. That flavor stayed solid through the first 1/2 of the cigar. The cigar then lost most of the licorce/anise, and developed a nice cayenne spiciness and the coffee bitterness intensified. The spice flirted in and out until about the final inch of the cigar. The spice kicked it up, and I would have burned my fingers smoking the cigar had the smoke not gotten too hot. I got quite a good buzz from this smoke. The ash hung on for about 2.5 inches prior to dropping. The smoke burned razor sharp, and smelled very spicy and deep. I must say, if I could start every day with a cup of Kona and a Gurkha Class Regent, I would be king of the world in a matter of weeks. Very complex, spicy, delicious, and intoxicating. This is probably the most flavor and satisfying smoke I have smoked up to this point. Awesome smoke that I can't say enough great things about.
