Review Notes: After cutting the cap, the bottom of the cigar began to flake off in my mouth. Additionally, there are two rings, one which is halfway up the cigar, and is damn near impossible to get off. The wrapper cracked in several places and eventually unwound. The flavor wasn't anything great, and was really only just too spicy for me.

Review Notes: This is only my second Gurka and my only Doble Maduro and was a gift. I only smoke maduro cigars and this is a very attractive cigar. When I first saw it, I was sure it was going to be a great cigar. I was wrong. The flavor was one dimensional, boring and mild and the construction left a lot to be desired. The cap split when I punched it, the cigar unraveled about half way through and the wrapper needed a lot of touch-ups. The smoke lasted 2 1/2 hours and it was not something I'd consider buying a box of.

"The grinder's monkey meets his demise"

Review Notes: Well. Iíve had a few of these over the course of the last year. The first two down right made me angry. Plugged and burn issues beyond belief. The third one was just fine. Lots of smoke, good burn, decent appearance, OK taste. If I based this review on just that 3rd stick, this would have been a pretty decent cigar review. But, considering that I only got 1 outa 3 that was any good, I have to ratchet back the scores by at least one in every category. Consistency has to account for something. Iím not so crazy about the fellow on the band either. Looks like the organ grinder took his blade to the monkey and stole his hat.

Review Notes: I smoke this one one week ago. It is very smooth one. It's on mild side which surprises me a little. I will definitely try more

"Wrapper Issues"

Review Notes: I got a 5er of these on CBid about a year ago, and have now smoked through 3 of them. All and all, these are my least favorite of the Gurkha line that I've smoked, though that does not mean they are bad smokes in any way. Exceptionally toothy, they are fairly smooth smokes, as one would expect from a double maduro, and give a decent amount of chocolate to begin with. Towards the end they change, becoming increasingly spicey, and leather fans will be rewarded. I would give these a much higher rating if it weren't for the constuction issues. Every other Gurkha I've smoked has been flawlessly constructed. For me, its not that they burn unevenly, its that the wrapper cracks and the whole darn thing begins to unwind. The latest that I smoked, which had been sitting for a year, gave only minimal cracking and didn't affect the burn or flavor whatsoever. The first two were an absolute disaster, however. I guess the moral of the story is that these are great smokes to be had for not a lot of money on CBid, so long as you can be patient and let them sit.
