"The Brad Johnson of Cuban robustos"

Review Notes: Capable enough, but it never quite wows you. From a mid-05 box. Not much to add to previous reviews. Inconsistent draw. And it's certainly no beauty queen. Flavors can be very good, if not attention grabbing. Occasional grassiness, hints of caramel, pepper and earth. Wait it out. It gets MUCH better after the dull opening third.

"Pretty good"

Review Notes: This was a decent smoke. It was earthy and cedary with some slightly sweet, floral notes. The flavors remained fairly consistent throughout, although the sweetness dissipated after the first third. Overall, not bad, but it was no Mag. 46.

Review Notes: This stick is draped in a fairly plain brown wrapper with a slightly rough appearance and medium veins. There are 2 small green spots along the midsection. The standard triple cap is present. Solid construction without soft spots. Easy light. Slightly firm draw. Fairly even burn, although it required two relights in the last 1/3 as it spontaneously extinguished. Slightly flakey gray-black ash. Started with white and black pepper, nuts, and spice. The first third brought flavors of wood, spice, and raw tobacco, with a mild creamy note that seemed to dance in and out. The tannic quality was very evident, almost coating the mouth like strong iced tea. The middle third brought an increased intensity of wood and spice, and the tobacco transformed into more of a toasted character, all against a backdrop of lingering pepper. A slight menthol flavor was also noted. In the last third, leather, spice, and tannins were prominent. As stated above, the cigar required 2 relights in the last 1/3 - both unexpected and spontaneous, as it was smoking well just before becoming extinguished. All in all, this full-bodied, 1 hour 20 minute smoke was enjoyable, but if I had a box, I would certainly move it to the back of the humidor and give it another year or so before resampling.

"Short and Tight"

Review Notes: I got this stick with a monthly package from the Canadian Cigar Club. The construction was fair as this cigar has a somewhat tight draw. Initially, I had trouble getting any smoke but about an inch or so later the draw eased a little. The flavor was slightly spicey with a bit if pepper. The finish was similiar, a little spice and a little pepper. The burn was decent and the room note was good (my oldest son, also a cigar man) said the smell was nice. Overall, this stick falls in my category of to short. I am a double corona/churchill fan, so I don't anticipate buying anymore of these for the humi.

Review Notes: Beautiful cigar with nice draw and medium spice flavor. Not enough flavor though but finished well.
