Review Notes:
This stick is draped in a fairly plain brown wrapper with a slightly rough appearance and medium veins. There are 2 small green spots along the midsection. The standard triple cap is present. Solid construction without soft spots. Easy light. Slightly firm draw. Fairly even burn, although it required two relights in the last 1/3 as it spontaneously extinguished. Slightly flakey gray-black ash. Started with white and black pepper, nuts, and spice. The first third brought flavors of wood, spice, and raw tobacco, with a mild creamy note that seemed to dance in and out. The tannic quality was very evident, almost coating the mouth like strong iced tea. The middle third brought an increased intensity of wood and spice, and the tobacco transformed into more of a toasted character, all against a backdrop of lingering pepper. A slight menthol flavor was also noted. In the last third, leather, spice, and tannins were prominent. As stated above, the cigar required 2 relights in the last 1/3 - both unexpected and spontaneous, as it was smoking well just before becoming extinguished. All in all, this full-bodied, 1 hour 20 minute smoke was enjoyable, but if I had a box, I would certainly move it to the back of the humidor and give it another year or so before resampling.
