"Dirt...not earthy... just dirt"

Review Notes: All I could taste in this cigar was dirt, you know the kind of dirt that you pull weeds from. Wrapper was very brittle. I would say that it was my humidor, but all my other cigars are great.

"Spicey Baby!"

Review Notes: Warning! Warning! Mild cigar smokers beware! This cigar has flavor... escape while you can! The Dark Sumatra line is my favorite in the world of Hoya de Monteray cigars. The Ebano is my top choice of the lot. A naturally dark oily wrapper darker than most maduros, it has a wonderful "cigar humidor" pre-light aroma. The lonsdale size Ebano has nice heft and a natural feel in the hand. Lights up easily and smoothly, instantly giving forth a full bodied array of spicey flavors, the nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon and mace variety of spice with a dash of red pepper. Some expresso like notes emerge which makes this stick a natural to team up with a robust cup of coffee. Todays sample burned evenly untill about 3/4 smoked and then began to side burn a bit and went out. I have had quite a few of these sticks and they usually don't exibit this trait It easily re-light and after a little touch of harshness it smoothed out and then smoked delicious to the end. The ash was of medium firmness and a of a medium gray color. Highly recommended.

"Nice Smoke..."

Review Notes: The head unravele a bit after the punch which had me worried. It held together, though, for the entire smoke. Rich nutty flavor with a hint of choclate. An added note of spiciness toward the end. The burn got a bit uneven at the 3/4 point but not outrageous. An enjoyable, full bodied smoke.

"Well it could be worse"

Review Notes: Ok so, I start by getting the punch cutter out as well it is a smaller ring guage. The capof the wrapper came off with it. however the construction held ash almost as long as my zippo. but as i smoked and the cigar got hot the wrapper started to dry and unravel, 2.5-3 inches from the end so much air was coming through opening wrapper that its draw was nonexistant and therefore it became unsmokeable. but unitl that time I got copious amounts thick tasty smoke. good medium-full flavor. If given the choice between this or an el rey del mundo Robusto Larga (M), get the robusto instead

"No More Yard Pile"

Review Notes: I burned down the yard waste pile and to celebrate I lit this one up with a cold pale ale and sat in the front yard with the wife. The Hoyo lit fine and burned fairly straight. The smoke scent was lovely. The flavor held its one dimension all the way through, that of almonds and maybe buttered toast, hint of dark chocolate, getting a little ashy near the middle and on to the end. The head had a funny fold on it, almost a puckered crack that was a bit disconcerting. Not a bad cigar at all. Helped me relax after lording over the burn pile all day. I tossed the butt end of this one on the ashes. A new pile will rise.
