Review Notes: I recieved a five pack of these nice look dark sumatra cigars from JR Cigar as a freebie when I bought a box of Fonseca Cedars because they ran out of the Fonseca freebie that was originally supposed to go with it. I have to say that I think I got an upgrade. I kept these in the humidor for 2 months prior to trying one, so that may have made a difference as far as the drying out problem others have mentioned. This is a full bodied, but not too strong beauty. The cap was my only complaint as far at the construction, but the burn was perfect. The flavor was what I have come to expect from Hoyo, with a little more fullness. No harshness in this gar at all. The smoke was blue and the ash white with a little grey in the burn lines. I only needed to tap this one about 5 times as the ash was sturdy as any I've seen. Perfect draw as well. I smoked this one to the nub. I really found this to be a very very good cigar for a "bonus" pickup. Simply the best Hoyo I have had.

Review Notes: Brittle wrapper cracked and started to peel at the head when I clipped it, but I was able to keep it together. Draw was medium/tight. Initial tastes spicy/tangy/but not much flavor. First third: burned unevenly, tangy/a bit harsh, a touch of leather. Second third: burn evened out, a little smoother, a touch perfume/cedar, leathery, medium body but light flavor. Ash keeps falling every 1/2 inch. Started to crack. Put out at start of last third as the taste did not really change and this was not as enjoyable as I would like.

Review Notes: I've smoked Dark Sumatras on and off for the past 2 years and I have to say they are pretty consistant. The one I smoked last night was very characteristic of all 4 of them, so I thought I'd share. Starting off with the nice deepdark oily wrapper, this Ebano I hand selected from the bunch. the veins were almost unnoticable and between my fingers it felt consistantly hard - yet with a softness to the touch, kind of like feeling a woman fingers. My punch was a little too large so centering the hole was a bit of an issue, but not bothersome. The dry draw was as I expected, EARTHY like all DS, but a little more tight than I remembered. The light up brought instant sanity, spice-robust and hot. I let it sit for a second to cool down and then began dragging. the sweet almost cocoa flavors swirled into my mouth and I let them sit there for a minute, ignoring the movie I had put on. Deep and sensual, Ebano I believe are about the most harsh, and also the sweetest of the DS. So much earthy tone, it leaves your mouth like plooms from a bonfire.

Review Notes: Another Villazon gem. 5 of these have yielded no disappointments. Solid build and burn. Smooth smoke with spice and a hint of sweetness.

Review Notes: These are the fullest cigars in the Hoyo line and are packed to the core with dark spicy flavors. The ash remains white and firm, and they leave a nice full finish.
