Review Notes:
I recently decided to try some of the other brands in the Habanos portfolio, and this one ended up on my list of singles to try, thanks to the reviews here and the recommendation of my tobacconist... Boy am I glad it did! It looked rather ragged, with a spongy construction and a very marbled wrapper over a lightly veined, slightly lumpy body. The draw was very loose, which led me to believe it would burn hot and uneven. Glad to say it didn't. The smoke was very peppery, unlike any other CC I've had before. It had notes of black, white and green peppercorns and even the slight bittersweetness of green bell peppers over a backdrop of rich, earthy, sweet Cuban tobacco. The aroma was absolutely intoxicating, full of earth, spice and smoldering Havana leaf. It burned straight and the draw, as stated before, bombed me with huge clouds of rich, aromatic smoke. I had to touch it up twice after ashing, but other than that, it was nearly perfect. I nubbed it at 3/4" after 60 mins and wished for more. It was almost Padron-esque, in build and somewhat in flavor, but much better to my mind (maybe just because it's taboo). The finish coated my palate with coffee bean and nutty notes. I will be buying a box of these and maybe a cab after, if the box is as good as this one was! Definitely a refreshing change of pace from the usual Montes and Partagas. Thumbs up!
