"Not worth it"

Review Notes: I bought this on the recommendation of one of my cigar shops and because of its high rating in the recent CA top 25. I was told to let the first eighth of an inch burn off before getting into it. The construction is nice, a very good looking darker wrapper with a nice scent. That is where it ended. This smoke had a very ammoniaish taste to it with some spicy and earthish taste. It burned very unevenly and just wasn't enjoyable almost making me sick. I will pass on this next time.

"Is one star too high? Maybe"

Review Notes: I'm glad to see some folks come out and call this cigar what it is...horrible. Okay, maybe not that bad. But I do question how many advertising dollars bought that rating CI lauded. I immediately bought a box...stored them for a few weeks in the humi. I smoked a few thinking hmmmm...not that good really. Ended up giving away the rest. Recently, it was on the charts again as one of the best of the year. I bought 2 singles just in case I had a bad box six months earlier. Nope...they must be all bad...the first one had the same off taste I remembered from before.

"Overwhelmingly Spicy!"

Review Notes: I smoked 2 of these cigars and did not enjoy either one. I bought them at the JR store in Manhattan. After the "92" rating by CA, I figured I was in for a treat, especially for only $5 a stick. However, from the time I lit this thing up, the burn was uneven and there was major canoeing. The draw was good. The flavor was chock full of hot, peppary spices and maybe some paprika or celery salt. Not what I was expecting. I did not taste any of the chocolaty qualities that CA wrote about and the other raters here. The cigar was beautiful looking, with a nice square box-press and dark, oily wrapper. But that was it. I could barely tolerate smoking this thing. It was just brutally overpowering and strong, but not in a good way. I did not find this to be a balanced cigar at all. I really wanted to like this one, but I cannot say I enjoyed it. The smoke was choking me. Took me half the night to recover from this awful smoke.

"Not a hit and miss for me"

Review Notes: This cigar isnt the best constructed, uneven burns mean paying attention where no attention should be due. But I still have to say, the robust flavors which this cigar possesses grab you from the start, and dont let go until IT is done with YOU. From the other reviews, I can tell this cigar might be a hit and miss. But so far every time I smoke this baby it makes me happy. Give it a try (or 2 if needed), if you're disappointed at least you didnt break the bank finding out.

"Age Required"

Review Notes: The new top 25 list in CA reminded me I have four of these sticks left in the humidor. 6 months later from my initial review and I must say this cigar has complexity. The spice flavors on the draw have mellowed but what is nice is that the various hints previously mentioned fade in and out throughout the smoke. These can be harsh fresh out the box so age them 6 months. Nice burn with a few touch up lights required.
