| Notes: I went to a local cigar shop in the Houston, TX area, for an "open house" with a Kristoff representative. Based on my "tastes", it was recommended I try the Sumatra. This cigar had a brown color wrapper, a shaggy foot and pigtal cap.
It lit well and when I started to draw on it, there was a little resistance. As for taste, I lean more towards the milder cigar, this one was between mild and medium - but had good flavor. It has a spicy/dried fruit flavor. I didn't get to finish it, due to time constraints, so I can't tell you how it ended.
I do want to warn you about this cigar. Make sure you have enough time. This is one sloooooooooooooow burning cigar, allow at least two hours. I was casually puffing on mine and about 45 minutes later, had maybe one inch of ashes. Another negative is the draw. It was a little tough to get a good draw. Lastly, I had a hard time keeping it lit.
Would I buy this one again? Yes - but plan on adequate time to smoke it - it needs lots of attention to keep it going. |

Review Notes:
After being told by several folks to try this cigar, I finally picked one up and gave it a run. One word; Disappointing.
While it was beautifully constructed and had a great draw/burn, the flavor was totally underwhelming.
Earthy, dry, perhaps some floral/ cinnamon spicy notes, but I had to think hard to find them. Like frost bitten food--a pale ghost flavor of what it once was.
This cigar lacked balance, and sweetness, and as the second worse cigar I've smoked this year, reminds me of what I usually take for granted in good cigars.

Review Notes:
I love Kristoff's branding, "Rustic Elegance" from the packaging and the understated band to the shaggy foot and pigtail cap; Absolutely gorgeous! And the Sumatra is no exception.
This cigar lit perfectly, burned evenly down to my fingertips and delivered bountiful plumes of thick white smoke. The construction was solid with just enough pliability to be comfortable in my mouth, never having a chance to rest in the ashtray. It was just too good to sit it down.
With some toasty cinnamon spice and dried fruit throughout, this med-full bodied gem offered the complexity of a super premium at a reasonable price.
If you have not yet sampled a Kristoff Sumatra, run don't walk to your nearest tobacconist and grab a handful. You're worth it!

Review Notes:
I rather enjoyed the burn and flavor of this $9.00 cigar. Very relaxing and when the humidification is properly controlled it is a very nice cigar to puff on.
