"Maduro - Often Overlooked"

Review Notes: Tonight I am reviewing the La Gloria Cubana Glorias Extra Maduro. It sported a 61/2 length, 46 ring wrapped in an oily maduro wrapper. I had this one in the humidor for several months and decided tonight was the night to endulge this $3.00 stick. Yeah you heard me right, $3.00. Prelight aroma enticed my senses. I toasted the foot and then torched the perfect light. The first half inch had a bitterness that developed into a magnificent symphony of coffee and earthy flavors. In the first photo you will notice nearly a 31/2 ash. The ash grey and white with dense rings that you normally find in a $8.00 plus smoke. Volumes of thick white smoke accompanied with a bouquet of sweetness. My son told me this cigar smelled very nice. This particular LGC is not one of the more popular shapes and is often overlooked and underestimated. The second picture did not turn out too well, because my wife is down in Ecuador with our digital camera and had to use my camcorder. The third photo will show the second and last ash before I burned my fingers smoking it to the nub. I rate this smoke a low 9 on a scale of 1 to 10. This stick spells VALUE; just because you have value does not mean bland flavor.

"Still decent"

Review Notes: 2nd review. Oscuro wrapper with some color variation. Seedy texture, rough, and not particularly straight. Firm to the touch with a tighter draw than usual. Uniform white ash, tight roll, sweet smelling smoke. Still has the rich chocolate and sea salty undertones along with generous pepper spices, some fresh brewed coffee. A little better than the first, and still would smoke again.

"Tight but Flavorful"

Review Notes: Dark oily black wrapper with tons of flavor. It was tight but did not loosen up until 2/3s down. I will try another one out hoping the tightness is just a fluke.

"Average at best"

Review Notes: Got a stick from local tobacconist's humidor and let "age" in my humidor about 2 months before smoking (65F/68%RH). The almost black wrapper was nice looking and the head clipped perfectly. The draw was a bit too firm and detracted from the smoke. Burn was OK but not entirely even. The smoke had an almost dry kind of taste but not bitter or astringent. The first two-thirds were pretty uniform in taste/flavor/body. I let it go out with maybe 3 inches left. The draw detracted from the experience along with the monotony of the flavor and taste. This smoke was perhaps slightly more than medium bodied. I prefer the medium to full or full bodied smokes, particularly if they have a bit of spiciness. This cigar had very little if any spice to it. I would smoke these again, if gifted to me, but IMHO there are significantly better smokes available for less than half of the $6 USD I paid. This was simply an average smoke.

"Not bad"

Review Notes: Dark chocolate color, Even burn, light-grey ash and easy draw. Starts out a bit salty, turning into some charcoal towards the middle. Hints of walnut, and in the 2nd half gets oily w/some elbow grease. Aroma reminded me of working on your car in the garage. Not bad, but pretty simple on average. Would try again.
