Review Notes: Smoked one of these a little while ago sitting out in my garage watching the day go by. This had been sitting at about 66% RH for the last month or so and today was judgment day for this little guy. A somewhat rough looking wrapper with some good oils coming off of it. Clipped the cap and lit up. Draw was rather tight to begin with and it didn't want to stay lit either. Clipped another 1/8 of an inch off and took the torch to it which seemed to fix the problem. After cooling down the flavors began to come through in force. Tastes of black pepper and leather dominated the rich, chewy smoke. On the second half a classic maduro sweetness appeared on the finish. A very full bodied cigar. Luckily I had eaten before lighting this one up as I did get a little queasy during the first 1/3 of the smoke. Very strong but it still maintained a nice balance of power and taste. As I said before the draw was corrected after a second clip but the burn still had issues. More so on the last 1/3 when the cigar tunneled a couple of times. Overall, this was a very good smoke. Lots of power but lots of flavor as well. At $4.00 a stick (MSRP) this one is definitely worth a try.

"Miami v.2"

Review Notes: I suspected age would help these, and so far I'm not disappointed. It's not there yet, but some of the bitter bite of youth has already gone. Sloppy cap was an aesthetic drawback, but the burn and draw were exemplary. This thing is strong! I've always thought of LGCs as medium bodied, but this one approached El Rico power. By halfway, it's full-on strong. More coffee (on the first half) and pepper than I noticed last time. Wow. I bought these as an inexpensive, everyday maduro, but I'm now thinking these will be special if I put them up for a year or two. Exceeding expectations. Who knew?

Review Notes: These are a great anytime smoke. Great tight construction. Smooth medium body and delicious, complex maduro flavor to the nub. Flawless draw and burn.

"Miami version"

Review Notes: I've always thought the DR-made LGCs were pretty ho-hum. But since folks swear that the ones produced at El Credito Miami are notably better, I picked up at box today while in Little Havana. (Also saw the arson ravaged shell of the LTC factory a few blocks down Calle Ocho... a crying shame.) Since I haven't had a DR Wavell Maduro in a couple of years, I can't settle the Miami vs. DR debate. But I can say this is a good smoke. It looks spectacular. And lots of flavor at first blush -- clove, pepper, earth, anise. But those notes are of the hit-and-run variety, rather than melding together to give it a consistent character. Age may address that issue, of course. The finish isn't as long as I would like, and it turns charry on the last third. Despite those gripes, I think there's an excellent smoke in here that needs some time to come out.

"Improved a bit"

Review Notes: Althout I was still not all that impressed with the flavor of this cigar...at least not for a LGC, the one I just smoked did a better job at keeping my interest over time. The flavors were smooth until the end where I finaly got some of that old LGC strength that have made these famous. All in all, it is a good cigar that could be great with a better blend.
