"It's A Camacho For Sure."

Review Notes: I have to pre-cursor this saying of all the brands Camacho is likely the one I have the least experience with. I've had a Camacho Pre-Embargo 1962 box I've been occasionally going to for the past three years. Those cigars have hit their stride as they're like a Padron without the deepest mocha/coffee component. While I still prefer the Padron 1964 Anniversary this cigar will stand up to that singularly most excellent non-Cuban example of excellence. This cigar is like an even lighter version

"The six month update"

Review Notes: Definitively Honduran. Earthy, meaty with a reliable burn and draw. It has little dynamic range, but it does what it does pretty well. It has smoothed out a little over six months, but I didn't find this to be overly aggressive in the first place. A solid, satisfying afternoon smoke at a yard gar price.

"Brand Loyalty"

Review Notes: I'm usually a Comacho fan and I really thought I would like this cigar, However disappointment was my constant companion during the smoking of this gar. The taste was strong, but not smooth. It was harsh and irritated the back of my throat. Now, I admit I only had this stick a couple of months in the humidor, but still expected more flavor. I don't equate strength with flavor as some raters do. During the first half of this cigar, which I smoked in the damp 40 degree weather, the only thing that kept me from pitching it, was brand loyalty to Comacho. In the second half more complexity built and the flavor was a little better. Actually, of the six "Legends" I've smoked this was my least favorite.

"Spend Elsewhere"

Review Notes: I've had a box and a five pack this year. Being a fan in general of the Legends series, I keep trying. After months of aging these just didn't get any better. The taste is very consistent throughout - too bad it's a sour taste that reminds me of wet paper. I really dislike writing negative reviews, but the disappointment prompted me to help save others.

"Pleasant surprise"

Review Notes: Other than the price ($43 at auction), I'm not sure why I bought these since I'm not a huge Camacho fan. Sucker for a bargain, I guess? Blasphemous as it may be, I like this stick much more than the Camacho Corojo. Unique flavor. More earthy than spicy. Strong, but unlike the Corojo, it never quite bites. An interesting note comes and goes on the finish that I'm having a hard time pinning down. Somewhere between molasses and cookie dough. Good now, and I expect these to age nicely. I never would've guessed it, but this one is finding a place in my regular rotation.
