"Ok, but issues"

Review Notes: What a good looking cigar. Great color, nice sheen, just begs to be lit. Very nice taste as well, but not complex. A bit of leather, coffee, good tobacco flavor. Taste wise it reminded me a lot of the CAO Italia. However, construction wise it was far from it. This wouldn't make it as a CAO second from a construction stand point. Wrapper is tissue paper thin, cracks easily, unrolls, splits, everything that can happen, will happen to this wrapper as you smoke it. You must hold it very softly or it is guaranteed that the wrapper will break or flake off. This is a nice, simplistic cigar that could be quite nice if it wasn't for really poor construction issues. I understand now why these are so cheap, because they are just poorly put together - the wrapper is way to thin and delicate for a large gauge cigar like this. Alec should look at the CAO italia and take some notes on construction. Would love to like this cigar, but it just failed miserably construction wise. Bad burn issues as well, as many have already noted.

Review Notes: A medium powered cigar at best, this stick has mellowed with time. It's lost some of it's twang from the 9 months or so of humidor time. The construction, though not bad, didn't seem as good as on the "Freak" of the same line. It is a beauty and the price is pleasantly affordable. Overall I recommend it, unless you are looking for a cigar of full strength.

"Outstanding flavor (albeit consistant)..."

Review Notes: and an outstanding value too. I received 2 Maxx robustos when I purchased a humidor from Famous. I smoked one right away and then one today that had rested for 4 months or so. As a newbie, I'm really impressed with these cigars. I wouldn't hesitate to buy more. The only negative was the wrapper split badly at the foot when I lit-up; thank goodness it had no effect on the smoking experience. For those that are looking for a lot of flavor changes as the smoke progresses, you might be disappointed. Fortunately, I loved the flavor, earthy with a smooth finish. The body is more medium than full, IMO, but I have been a pipe smoker for over 10 years.

"Getting Better..."

Review Notes: I liked this ciagr from the first time I tried it back in the Spring of 2007. The problem then, and it continues 'til today, is the burn. They do not burn correctly and tend to canoe most of the time. But I must say, it has gotten better within in the last year. Like any new product, it takes a while to get the bugs out and that could be the problem with this stick. The flavor is great, reminds me of the Gol by CAO. The construction is rock soild and it is a beauty to behold. Nice clouds of ashen grey smoke and some spice on the back. They are massive in size and all sizes are priced the same, unsual to say the least. A great value overall and definitley worth buying. Hopefully by this time next year they will have solved the burn issue.
