"9 + in my book"

Review Notes: Thick robusto - sized cigar with a chocolate color and leathery feel. Dispite it's obvious density the draw was effortless and smooth. Lots of leather and coffee. The smoke is rich and creamy with a nice mild aroma. I would suggest this to any novice or veteran smoker

"Very Good but Uneven Burn"

Review Notes: This is my second rating of these sticks after smoking about 6-8 in total. My initial impression still stands, this is a quality cigar. My only negative comment is that they do not burn evenly at all. And this holds true for all of the sizes they make. I found myself constantly having to go back and adjust the burn on teh cigar. It is apain in the ass and doe take away from the overall smoking pleasure. Once this is solved though the sticks are mighty tasty and should be worth a try for serious smokers. They remind me alot of the CAO Brazilia in look and taste but the CAO is a wonderfully constructed ciagr and the MAXX cannot compare with it. My hope is that AB will see the errors and made the needed adjustments.

Review Notes: Went to cigar fest '07 and got one of these as a sample. Out of all of maybe 50 assorted samples...this one was one of my favorite. After talking with Alan Rubin I was sold (what a cool, approachable, friendly guy). I later got a deal on a box of these (even though I couldn't stop staring at the 'Freak') because I absolutely LOVE the look and size of this cigar. I've smoked about 5 now and I've never had a split wrapper. Pretty much every one of them needed touch-up here and there to keep the burn even, but not to the point that it takes away from enjoyment. This cigar doesn't have a lot of nuances, BUT it does have a nice coffee background and creaminess throughout. I could care less if it changes profiles a hundred times... the one profile it does have tastes good to me. They do get a little bitter after the band, so I don't nub them, but until that point this is one helluva good smoke.

Review Notes: This was an awesome cigar, really. The draw was perfection, burn perfection. i really love the thickness of this bad boy. it was lacking in variety of flavors though. it was a mild creamy flavor; nothing exceptional but i wholeheartedly enjoyed it.

"Beautiful but ordinary"

Review Notes: I couldn't wait to smoke this cigar. I'd been looking at it for weeks in the humi and finally couldn't wait any more. What a beautiful reddish-brown smooth wrapper it has. Nice pre-light aroma, NO pre-light taste. Draw throughout the smoke was a little firm but not to it's detriment. But again, not much flavor. A distinct sweetness but no spice at all and very little body. Hints of coffee and leather were there but nothing defining the cigar. So, perhaps it needed a bit longer aging - I don't think so. Just not very complex. One singular characteristic which struck me early and often: the wrapper had a couple of small holes near the cap so when drawing I could feel air coming through. Not a huge deal but different and definitely a QC issue. Also, midway through the wrapper split. I have one more and will probably gift it eventually. Not my cup of tea.
