"Not a Mac fan, but.."

Review Notes: First, construction was ok. It did need some touch-ups and a relight; however, the flavors made up for it. the appearance is a bit rustic. It starts with a rich tobacco and builds some pepper. There are some coffee notes also. About 1/2 the pepper fades and leaves rich tobacco and some slight wood. Overall, this is a good cigar that highlights rich tobacco.

"110 Minutes of Burn Problems"

Review Notes: From the start one side refused to burn. Pretty looking and firmly packed. Lots of smoke and pretty good leathery flavor. Throughout the incredibly long and slow burn the wrapper and binder did not burn as fast as the filler. I tried increasing the puff rate to no avail so I just had to constantly burn off the wrapper with my lighter. Value rating is artificially high due to pre-release sampler price. Will be aging the other 2 of these for a very long time to see if that will help the burn issue.

"1 Hour and 50 Minutes of Burn Issues"

Review Notes: Nice looking and firmly packed. Used a punch cutter at first and the draw was a little tight but flavors were good. From the start one side of the cigar did not want to burn and was canoing severely. After about an inch I used my double blade to cut off the cap and the draw became perfect. I was hoping this would help the burn issues. It did not. Throughout the rest of the cigar the wrapper and the binder burned much slower than the filler regardless of my puff rate. Only in the last 2 inches did the burn correct itself but at that point it got hot and harsh. Pretty tasty but more trouble than it was worth. I'll be aging the rest of these for a long while before I try again. Value rating artificially high becuase I got these in the pre-release sampler.

"A winner from Macanudo, definitely so w/ age."

Review Notes: I do realize that these are pre-release from a brand new line. The fist third was a little rough, very strong notes of coffee and tobacco. Smoke is medium thickness and light greyish white. The wrapper is beautiful and could possibly have color addes. Nonetheless, a very pretty cigar. The burn started a little crappy, but the foot was a little smooshed down in RG. One third gone and the burn has evened out. Strength of flavors has settles down a bit and it is now smooth and lots of coffee, maybe a little chocolate. Some flavor present that may thankfully diminish with age. Burn is now very good. The final third is more tobacco but some coffee. It is not getting too hot, either. Burn continues to be first tier., and the ash is a little darker. Overall, a good smoke. Good strength and it is definitely medium-full bodied. I will be buying more of the samplers to get them while they're cheap!! $2.84 for a Churchill Macanudo is great! This isn't the Macanudo of yesterday..
