Review Notes: I reviewed a cigar from the same box as the one I'm smoking now. Sorry JL you must have got a bad one. After 5+ years of herfing I now have a much better perspective of what a stogie should be. First and foremost is the taste and body. All other aspects are important but secondary. The construction of this cigar is mediocre producing an ugly, flaky ash and requires some touch ups but the flavor saves it. You could do a lot worse for $2.

"Not so good!"

Review Notes: This was a "you get what you pay for" experience for me. Sometimes it's fun to find an inexpensive cigar, and hope that it's an unfound secret. Not so in this case! When they first arrived, they looked very nice...Dark wrappers, nice, slight box press. But the first clue was the weight when I carefully picked one out of the box: Very light, either indicating dryness or (in this case) just a poorly filled cigar; ultimately resulting in the overall poor quality. The taste was very papery and grassy, with only a few notes of core tobacco coming through. It burned unevenly (even though lit properly) and needed many corrections with the lighter. When the ash fell, there was still a big chunk somehow clinging to the cigar, as if it was carefully chopped off! After the flakey ash fell for the second time, there was an absence of the usual conical shape found in properly constructed cigars. I patiently waited for a turn in flavor, but it simply did not happen.

"Good standard"

Review Notes: I agree with the previous reviewer, the caps on these need a lot of work, but hey once you light it up, you'll forget about it. Dense square pressed stick. Very tawny, leather start which mellowed quickly to a sweeter chocolate with just a hint of licorice. Draw was tight but I got around that. Thick chewy smoke with a decent aroma. Good bang for the buck.

"Sloppy cap construction, otherwise good"

Review Notes: This is a decent looking cigar with a nice copper brown hue. The caps on most of them in the box I have are coming off and the ones that do seem to be secure have come off completely when cut. But it doesn't seem to make any difference to the smoke - the wrapper hasn't started to unravel in any of those so far. They burn evenly and for a long time, have a draw that has either been right on or just a bit loose, and produce billows of smoke. The strength and body are medium with a flavor that's smooth and not at all spicy. Toward the last third, the taste falls off a bit and becomes a little metallic, but the cigar never burns hot. Some relighting will be required if not given full attention, but for less than $2 a stick I'm willing to deal with that. It's one of the best bargain cigars I've found so far.

"Spicy then creamy"

Review Notes: THis is a rich and flavorful smoke, with a dark, square pressed, oily wrapper. IT is probably one of the best cigars for UNDER $3. The draw is good, and the smoke is tangy and bold. The natural are good with a caramel-ish flavor, but the maduros pack a mouthful of zest.
