Review Notes: Date: 2/25/09 Time: 12:30 PM Location: Garage Drink: Green Tea Cutter: Perdomo Lighter: Tiger Construction: One moderate vein throughout, rest = relatively vein free. Slightly bumpy stick throughout length of body. Very dark wrapper. Pre-light aroma/draw: Pre-light = Tobacco & wood. VERY loose pre-light draw…air right through it! No spice to mention. Fruity on the lips 1st third: First puffs = billows of smoke & VERY slight bite. Losts of restign smoke. Oddly, a firm stick in the mouth…no give while biting down. Little sweetness in the middle of the 1/3. Slight uneven burn & very dry taste near end of 1/3. 2nd third: First puffs = woodsy & dry. Straight cedar follows the ash drop. Woodsy throughout. Last 3rd: First puffs = leather. Flavor maintained through end of smoke. Overall: Woodsy & Leather. Relatively flat smoke, but not an awful flavor profile. Just not exciting.

Review Notes: Not bad, mild earthy flavor with a bit of cocoa throughout. A good deal at retail price, around $120 for a box of 50. Would be interesting to put a box to sleep for 3-5 yrs and see what happens. The ones I've been smoking on are about 3 months old and are a nice everyday puffer.

"Nice ... Tasty and Smooth"

Review Notes: This is the other box in the deal I mentioned when I reviewed the 747 maduro. I bought two boxes for $50 each, one of the best bargains I ever purchased. A very attractive golden wrapper, with several noticeable veins of different sizes, some protruding right out of the wrapper leaf. Nice roll, slightly uneven burn, but not a problem, and great draw. A nice change of pace flavor, due to the rather unique blend of Honduran binder, with Honduran and Nicaraguan blended filler. The wrapper is an Ecuador, and judging from the flavor, I venture to guess a Connecticut seed. Mild to medium, with a creamy texture which is smooth on the palate. Delicious overtones of bread and grassy grain, with a complexity of subtle undertones ranging from spice to nuts, perhaps fruit and coffee with extra heavy cream and a dash of French vanilla. The body picks up in volume about half way into the burn, becoming medium to almost full, but it does not lose a bit of the silky smooth texture. I score the value at 10, because of the dollar per stick price I scored these at. However, even if one pays the retail of approximately $2.50 ...(they come in a box of 50) ... it would still be a fine value. These Connecticut wrapped, creamy types of cigars have always been among my favorites. I recommend giving these a try.

"Amazing; great everyday smoke"

Review Notes: I admit I bought the first one of these by accident and was sure it would be a turd, based on the price (free). Especially since my regualr cigar is the Excalibur No. 1 I smoked it with that thought in mind and kept waiting for things to go bad. What a pleasant surprise. It started out as a nice medium bodied smoke with a slight spice to it. About half way through i was thinking this is a good cigar. By the end it was a full bodied very good cigar. The burn was a little uneven but not bad. The reserve series is from Nicaragua. These are the Vintage series from Honduras. I now own a a box of 50 vintage 1989. I have not been disappointed by any of these. They were a great price at auction for $60.
