"First impression - not impressed"

Review Notes: Had my first Nub about an hour and a half ago. Coming into this smoke I tried to put all the hype out of my mind so I could judge this smoke fairly, so here goes. The concept here is interesting, starting a cigar right at the "sweet spot" and not having to build up to it. It is a unique looking cigar and it feels solid. The wrapper was smooth and lightly veined. Too large a ring gauge for any cutter I own so it got a punch. These actually appear to be made for a punch as the cap has an extra layer on the very top. Took a minute to get this one completely lit but once I did it burned nicely. Ash held solidly and the burn was even. However, the draw was weak and the amount of smoke I got felt very unsatisfying. As I said earlier these are supposedly designed to start out at the peak flavor point but I didn't find this to be the case. It took about an inch to get any real taste out of it. With the cigar only being four inches long this seems like an issue to me. The flavors that did show up were muted and felt very bland on my palate. Light hints of spice and leather but not much else. Little to no finish. Smoked this one down to the band just so I could do the stand on it's own ash trick and snap a picture of it. Overall, I hope I just had a dud here. The flavors were there but they just never came forward. I've got three of these left and will definitely try another one here soon. Hopefully it goes a little better.

"Great blend"

Review Notes: I wasn't sure what to expect given all the hype. This cigar was delicious and quite strong and it lasted well over an hour for me. Draw was very loose. I clipped this one but will punch the next one. Due to the extreme "airiness" I did have to relight a couple of times. Aroma was wonderful and taste was spicy sweet on the pre-light then cedary and toasty good from then on. Typical excellent Oliva construction. Recommended right out of the box but I would love to put some away for awhile too..

"Absolutely Worth it..."

Review Notes: Not sure why are reporting a 30-45 minute duration... I had mine over morning coffee... and it lasted every bit of an hour. AMAZING flavor on this cigar... strong, but not overpowering. A nice toast, cedar note that developed into a smooth woodsy blend, with hints of sweet and spice. Perfect burn, nice white smoke. Will keep these in the humidor as a new staple!

"Interesting concept but..."

Review Notes: Tried my first Nub this weekend and while I was impressed with the characteristics (appearance, construction, flavor, and burn of the stick), I question the value. Considering you will likely get only 30 - 45 minutes out of a Nub is it really work the $5 list? Anyway, it has a easy light, nice strait burn, a flavor profile similar to a Serie V. While enjoyable, the stick was too hot in the fingers before I knew it and had to be out down just before the label, leaving 2 inches of typically enjoyable goodness. I find it funny that a cigar with the name of Nub cannot be smoked to the nub. Go figure. One final note, due to the girth you need to be careful not to get a stick too fat to confortably enjoy. 60 seems to be my limit before it feels like work.
