Review Notes:
I generally quite enjoy sampling new cigars and reviewing them, but lately I've fallen in a rut. I've been smoking the same things exclusively; my own blend of Peterson's Irish Flake + a mix of Va's + 1-4% cigar leaf in my pipe, unless I want some more nicotine, when I'll just have the Irish Flake, and the same Romeo y Julieta Habana Reserve toros.
When I saw the price for this cigar, I decided to give it a shot. For 3.70, it seemed impossible to beat.
Cut perfect, even with a cheap cutter, and lit even better. Smoked good. I lit it and smoked for a bit and walked away for ten minutes to write a quick email; by the time I returned, it was still burning perfect. The burn wasn't perfectly even, but there was never a need to touch it up or anything.
The most important aspect: taste. It had an interesting taste, in the medium-full range, I would say. It's hard to describe it, I guess. It was tasty, started quite sweet but that mellowed once it got past that tip. A cedar taste was quite pronounced, which seemed unusual, but it wasn't bad. I tend to prefer a coffee and cocoa creamy taste in a cigar, and this cigar didn't really have that. The coffee taste was present, but not strongly so, and kind of came and went. It also had a hint of spice from the very beginning, but it's a hard to describe spice. It was just a light feeling on the middle and back of the tongue that could easily be lost if you weren't watching for it. As cigars go, I woulnd't call this one complex, but it wasn't bland either. For the price, you can't go wrong though.
