Review Notes:
Had this one sitting around in the humi and decided to give it a go after dinner. Appearance was flawless, with a chocloate brown wrapper and almost no veins. It reminded me of my first Cuban Montecristo No. 2, the way it looked and felt. (Not exactly the same size, of course, but for some reason, that's what I thought of as I held it.) The draw was tight until I had clipped about 1/2" off the head, then it opened up. First impressions were of pepper and a slight woodiness. The woodiness was the dominant flavor throughout, with a tobacco taste, a slight sweetness like raisins, and not much else. I found it fairly one-dimensional, as these flavors never changed for me. It was smooth the entire length, but the flavors were faint and hard to distinguish. I found it rather boring, as it's a big (6.5" x 52 RG, unlike the description), mild tasting smoke that burned really slowly, taking me over 90 mins to nub. If you enjoy the flavor, though, this smoke is highly recommended. The flavors I could taste were ok and the burn was perfect the whole way. It just didn't have enough pizazz or strength of flavor to keep me interested. If I wanted a smoke around this size and shape, I'd much rather reach for a SCdlH Muralla, as those are much more interesting and enjoyable... But at about 5X the price. I got a nice nicotine buzz from this.. It was mild in the beginning, but turned into a full bodied smoke in the last 3rd. I can't say I'll be buying more of these. I think I'll stick to the robustos, as they're shorter, and I seem to remember enjoying it more.
