"A Sheer Masterpiece"

Review Notes: I have the great fortune to have a stock of a half dozen of these cigars. I keep them in a custom tray in my cupboard separated from the rest. Simply put, this cigar is a sheer masterpiece of perfection. The prelight is strong of age and cedar. The slightly firmer draw is totally acceptable and the clouds of creamy sweet smoke are a marvel. The spiciness is that of black pepper and cinnamon while a hint of nut lingers throughout. The complexity of this cigar is like no other. They are also so hard to get that I'm forced to smoke 1 or 2 a year. If you have an opportunity to acquire these cigars, don't hesitate for an instant and buy them.

Review Notes: This was a gift from a fellow cigar lover. I torched her up and she was full-bodied with lots of complex leather and spice. The finish was long and distinct with a floral note. Great ash and contruction.

Review Notes: reddish brown wrapper, tightly rolled, yet a perfect medium draw, light-grey ash, needed a couple touchups. medium-bodied, sweet smelling smoke. first half was pretty complex. good spice, nutmeg, clove, hay, cedar and some oak. second half less eventful with same woods, but not a lot else. decent, but not a great value.

"Lives up to the hype"

Review Notes: OpusX perfextion 2 The page in my notebook reads: Date: 11/25/06 Brand: A. Fuente Name: Opus X Cigar: perfexion 2 Style: torpedo Age: 0 Wrapper: Dominican Republic [rosado grown at Chatue de la Fuente] Country of origin: Dominican Republic Wrapper: Dominican Republic Binder: Dominican Republic Filler: Dominican Republic Ring: 52 Length: 6 3/8 Draw: excellent Burn: good/excellent Strength: med Price: $19.50 Enrico's Comments: 1st - First few hits bland then smooth flavourful smoke with no flavour dominating, grassy was slight, half way flavous got firmer but still as rounded and smooth, flavour was remarkably constant, last inche began going out had to multi-hit to rekindle but it didn't get as harsh as others, finaly went out. Remarkably constant, smooth cigar, worth the price. Rating: 9.8 My nomal 'routine' would be to brew a pot of Dunkin Dounuts coffee, fire up some music and relax but I made no coffee and watched the USC football game on the telie. I bought 2 of the #2's at $20 each 2 weeks ago so the cigar has not aged The cigar was kept at 68% RH. . Predraw was a bit grassy and earthly, I lit it up with my torch lighter without toasting it as I was anxious to get this famed cigar lit and get a taste of this legendary cigar. The first few hits were good [and that's about it] but dull. My OpusX began to look like a 20 dollar bill burning but just as I started to regret buying 2 instead of just 1 flavour began to replace dullness, no flavour dominated as it was an exceptionally well rounded smooth taste. The taste was a blend of earthy, grassy, leather, nutmeg and autumn leaves I've never had a cigar in which flavours were so blended together. It was able to stand alone without the aid of coffee or spirts to enrich it. The cigars taste was constant beginning to end, with the exception getting a bit fuller half way down _ same taste just fuller. I was impressed the way it remained so consistent. The draw was perfect and so was the burn until I got down to the last inche when it began going out and finally did, I didn't want to retorch when it began crapping out because I didn't want to burn the flavour, When the light grey ash grew to 2 inches I tried to knock it off but it wouldn't let go "fine’ I said ‘stay there then" at 3 inches I figured better in the ash tray than in my lap so I 'broke' it off. Well OpusX did live up to the hype unlike Ashton's ESG and yes it is a bit pricey but absolutely worth it. I called my cigar pusher to put 6 away for me that I'll be there after pay day.

Review Notes: This is the daddy of Don Carlos's #2s. It's much spicer than the Arturo Fuente Don Carlos #2 and should be only smoked by the true cigar smoker. If not it might be wasted.
