Review Notes:
Flavor Profile: Rich and Sweet, Cedary, Leathery, complex amount of Spice.
Body: Full
Strength: Full
I am certainly not new to the stogie world, I do recall the first Opus X I had back in '96 and it was darn good if you had stored them for a minimum of 1 month. Thirteen years later, they are still one of the better smokes out and most sought after. I paid about 13-14 bucks a stick which I consider very good even though the MSRP of $7-8 seem to be only available to those fortunate enough with local b&m's that sell it to you at that rate. But for many of us, many stores and auction sites will rip you off royal. Also you have to remember these smokes are so strong, to truly enjoy them, store them for a minimum of one to three months.

Review Notes:
Perhaps it was my fault! I just bought this at the JR store in North Carolina on 95, for 11 bucks. I couldn't believe the price. I know it should have sat in my humi for much longer than 3 days, but I couldn't resist. The initial puffs were overly harsh, the burn was terrible, went out 5 times. The flavored mellowed out a little, but eventually died like the burn. Not happy.

Review Notes:
Decided to treat myself to one of these tonight after a disappointing experience with the VSG. I'd been sitting on this one for about a year. Great looking stick with a dark red, slightly veined wrapper and a perfect cap. Flavors were rich earth with notes of wood and leather. Lots of spice throughout as well. This was perhaps aged a little too long or was maybe stored at a little too high RH (68%?) as a lot of the strength was gone from what I had remembered from previous times smoking this line. Burn was razor sharp and the draw was perfect. Had to re-light once but that was my fault for letting it sit for a while. Overall, a great cigar that proves why the Opus X is one of the top smokes that Fuente makes.

Review Notes:
I finally got around to trying an Opus X, and after being dissapointed with all the other AF's I've tried (regular line, SG, DC, Hemi) I came into this cigar with low expectations. The most noticable thing is that this is a very strong cigar that hits you like a firework when you light it up. You will get a major buzz off this smoke even if you're used to ones like these. However the problem here is that this is probably one of the most one-dimensional tasting cigars there is. Tastes like pepper and that's about it. Not that this is a bad taste, or a really bad cigar, but it's just not enough complexity, and by the 1/2 way point it becomes much blander and starts to taste like a plain old AF which is not saying much.
Construction and burn are fine here, but this cigar does not justify what it goes for. The first 10 minutes are great, but the punch and taste falls off the table too way too fast.
Probably not good to make a review off just one (and a very small size to boot), but no way would I waste money on the larger sizes when there's much better cigars out there in the $3-6 range.
