"Can't Place the Flavor"

Review Notes: I just can't place the flavor of the Padilla Miami 8/11 Torpedo. The closest I could come was a blend of italian dressing and meat tenderizer. It sort of an oily flavor. It was not an unpleasant taste, just not any thing wonderful either. I really had hoped for better as this is a beautiful cigar, with a super burn and draw. I didn't taste an overabundance of pepper, but just the right amount. A good cigar, but for the price ... no way!

"On the fence with this one"

Review Notes: Won a fiver of these from CBid for less than $7 a stick. Gave them about two weeks additional rest after they arrived then pulled one out tonight. Nice looking smoke with a gorgeous, smooth, red hued wrapper and triple cap. Gave it a snip and tested the draw which was perfect. Upon lighting I was greeted with the signature Pepin spice and pepper overload that singes the nose hairs. After it settled, notes of wood and nuts began to come through on the finish. However these flavors never really solidified on my palate and were often times overpowered with a harshness that dulled them out. That was pretty much the story for the entire smoke. Burn was pretty good, needed a few touch-ups here and there but nothing major. One thing that did happen and that seems to be common with Padilla's is the wrapper began to split. Towards the second 1/3 of the cigar a split appeared in the wrapper about 1/8 of an inch below the burn line. After that the wrapper began to unravel from the split point but never fully came off. Also, this thing smokes, a lot. It would be sitting on the ash tray or between my fingers smoking like a brush fire in the California foothills. Didn't bother me or the wife any but if you're having one of these around people who don't enjoy smoke be prepared for some dirty looks. Overall, this was a so-so smoke for me. As the title says I'm on the fence with this one. Had I paid retail for this one I would have been rather perturbed. I'll probably let the other four sit for about six months to see if that helps with the flavors at all and will report back after that.

"Full throttle tobacco"

Review Notes: Lots of peppery, funky, spice, within an underlying straight tobacco base. I too found this one dimensional and I was glad when it was over. It left a "grab the scope quick" taste in my mouth. Prelight aroma was outstanding and got my hopes up. I'll let the rest of the 5 pack rest. This stick had about 3 months of box time on it. Even though I didn't care for this yesterday more aging might be the ticket here as I think there is something good to be found in here...It had good qualities in that it was hard, smelled great, drew well, and was well filled. Value based on $7.

"Not all it's cracked up to be..."

Review Notes: Was really exicited for this smoke, with all the hype... just didn't cut it. the best word to descirbe it is ONE_DIMENSIONAL. I would like to smoke some more, perhaps the flavor just never unleashed, but @ $14? Very plain-woody/sandy, too dry tasting, no oils or development of taste. Consistant flavor throughout. I had a similair experience with 1 of my La Aurora 100 anos belicosos, but the others were AMAZING!!! Maybe this cigar could be a similiar scenario... wondering.

"Distinct Flavor Profile"

Review Notes: Great construction and pre-light aroma. Beautiful wrapper with a slightly reddish color. Solid deep tobacco flavors with plenty of charred cedar flavors. This cigar also had a unique taste that I cannot identify - although I have found it to some degree in cigars by Bucanero. I think you will either love this gently unique taste or you will not. Do give it a try and find out for yourself. Either way a solid cigar.
