"What a way to ring in the new year"

Review Notes: I found a good deal on the 4 piece Maduro sampler (of all places at Universal CityWalk in Orlando, $73 for the sampler) and this one was my New Year's Eve smoke. Great burn, perfect construction. The flavor started off a little mild and built up throughout the smoke. Padron is making some great cigars and these are the best I have tried so far.

"A Bipolar review...."

Review Notes: First the good...outstanding smoothness, never harsh and never bitter. It starts fairly strong with a nice maduro and cocoa flavor, then drops in intensity to a medium to medium+ bodied smoke. (Those who scream it is FULL BODIED must have never smoked an LGC series R, Rocky Patel Edge, La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero Chisel M, Partagas Serie D #4, or anything that these days is truly full bodied.) The quality of flavor is refined and absolutely the best in class for maduro, none of the occasionally funky tanginess that many maduros show. Great draw, ash and burn. Now the bad...maduro, cocoa and little else. The complexity just wasn't there, not compared to other cheaper Padrons (1964 Monarca M, Principe M, etc). Very little in the coffee/oaky/toasty/earthy/leathery or other departments. In summary, if what they were shooting for was the best maduro flavor around they got it. If they wanted the best maduro *cigar* around, this one is far short.

Review Notes: Wow. I pulled this awsome smoke from the bottom of my humidor after resting for over a year. What a difference a year can make. I bought two 1926's over a year ago. One I smoked "fresh" if you will and was not particularly impressed and found it a bit harsh. 14 months later I light the second. Holy smokes! A quick burst of pepper that immediately mellowed to an amazingly complex and satisfiing smoke. Construction was flawless with a silky wrapper. The cap was smooth and cut perfectly. The pre light draw was easy. Upon lighting and the initial pepper, the cigar mellowed to a real treat. Full bodied, to be sure, yet smooth and refined. Tons of thick smoke on each draw. With a varied and complex flavor this was one of the most enjoyable cigars I have had. Age really improved this one and helped it live up to it's reputation, a reputation it well deserves. Awesome!

Review Notes: An almost perfect cigar. Fabulous burn and great smooth draw the entire smoke. Prefer the flavor of the 1964 Anniversary Exclusivo, but this was very, very nice. Sit back and enjoy as this baby takes you into the deep realms of relaxation.

"Where's the value"

Review Notes: I was really excited about these based upon what I'd heard, but after smoking them, I'm really disappointed. It's a good cigar to be sure, and I enjoyed the few I got my hands on. But at this price, I expect more than just great construction and passable flavor. It should be a cigar I hoard and treasure for special occasions. It's not. Lacks the flavor of a good cuban or a Diamond Crown Maximus, and in this price range, lacks the elegance of an Opus X.
