Review Notes: This is a funny cigar. Three cigars twisted into a braid, 25 cigars per box. Huh....wazzup with that, 25 doesn't divide by three into a whole number. Well, you get 8 braids that are wrapped in foil and one loner that is separated from its siblings at packaging. I burned the loner within a few hours of getting the box and opened and unbraided another the next day. The draw and burn were excellent and given the twisted shape, unexpected. Ash held well and maintained a nice cone. Flavor was nice with a touch of the wildness. Nice habano flavors but not as smooth and refined as other Partagas I have had. Still, a damned fine smoke. This is a great cigar to share with 2 others at a herf.

"Pleasant novelty"

Review Notes: Unwrapping the foil packet, like the appetizer at a classy Chinese restaurant, I knew I was in for something a bit exotic. The experience was enhanced by unraveling the serpentine cigars that were wound together in that chrysalis, preparing the unusual and deformed stick for sacrifice. The wrapper was nondescript, slightly wrinkled and papery to the touch, and the seams gapped slightly. It clipped cleanly and provided a perfect draw as if begging to be sacrificed. Yum! Medium bodied and possessing all of the spicy richness the Partagas line is revered for, this stick came across immediately with a rich palette of flavors that included earth, malt, and a hint of fresh cut oats that was satisfying and portrayed non nonsense country comfort. The ash was medium dark and followed the contours of the cigar, and the burn, once I broke the code, was even and regular. This cigar built in flavor and continued to layer on the complexity as it burned, teasing me by pretending to be a simple rustic sharecropper and then stunning me with a burst of refined insightful flavor. The stick started springy to the touch and softened considerably as it burned, finally becoming distractingly spongy in the final inch. I smoked this cigar outside in the Jacuzzi with the night air heavy and humid, and it took me a while to realize that the steam was inhibiting the bottom from burning as rapidly as the top. Turning the cigar as I smoked it produced the straight burn I sought. The finish was dark and tarry, tasting of lacquer and loam, and very satisfying. And the aroma damn it should have borne a flashing neon Habanos logo for the classic characteristics it displayed. I found this cigar to be very pleasant overall. Far from being the novelty that one would presume from the sideshow format, the cigar was a true example of classic Habanos richness and flavor. The value is tremendous and now I cant imagine ever being without a box in the humidor. Recommended.

Review Notes: I think the genius in this cigar comes from the secret of the rolling. They are hand bunched and rolled, rather loosely, to provide the smoker with loads of old fashioned, rich honey smoke. Then they're hand twisted, packaged, and sent out (to Windsor, in this case where I got my Cuban Twist) fresh. The three had various wrapper tones, from pale EMS to what looked like a darker, oil rich variety. One even had a hair when I punctured the head!!! (All that hand rolling on the thighs of virgins!) I watched an old Twilight Zone with Burgess Meredith as the devil, smoking these. Even in 1962, they were hard to light, burned unevenly, and on technical merit, don't rate as a great cigar. You really have to love the experience. If you do, this is a legend that will capture your soul.

Review Notes: This cigar knocked my socks off. It was a good thing that I was sitting down when I lit up. This cigar is a power house. My head was swimming in the strong peppery flavor. The flavor wasn't very complex, but that isn't unexpected in a cigar that is this thin. I got this one from my Bro-in-law who got it as a BDay gift from his tobacconist, which makes this an even more priceless smoke.

Review Notes: Nice smoke on the back deck. Good ash, flavor was OK. Smoke volume was adequate. Well construced, not hard spots.
