Review Notes: First let me say I am no Habano aficionado. I've only smoked a dozen or so in my life, if they weren't counterfeit. I did however read a description of what an old time habano should smoke and taste like. Unfortunately it was early in my herfing life and was about an incredibly bad cigar from CI. It went something like "smooth spice and power with complex sweetness and the taste of a vanilla milkshake on the finish." Sounds good huh? Well I can't say that the description fits this cigar, but it sure brought it to mind. I think the discriminating palate may also find some of those CA flavors of anise and marzipan, whatever they taste like. The thick, rustic, oily wrapper is not pretty and smooth, but I found it very appealing. It also has some burn problems. I've had these less than 2 weeks and just had to try one. Now I can let them rest and develop knowing what I have to look forward to. The sweet creaminess fades in the second half moving toward a more staright forward tobacco flavor with hints of the flavors in the first half. I am impressed with these and look forward to smoking them after some serious aging. If you're a full bodied smoker then these are medium, but if you smoke'm early or on an empty stomach they will give you some serious kick. If you nub it, as I am now, you can get up to 90 minutes pleasure.
