"Good start, great middle, disappointing end"

Review Notes: I enjoyed my first La Tradicion Perdomo Reserve Cabinet Series "P" (whew! that's a mouthful!) last night. I received it in a trade and was looking forward to trying it. Pre-burn, I found the Cameroon wrapper to have a nice feel and appearance - firm and velvety. The perfecto shape was unique for me -- I think it might have been my first, so I didn't really know what to expect from this little guy. It lit very nicely and gave me a *bang* of pepper on my tongue for the first 1/2". I thought, man this is one spicy cigar. But after that first 1/2", it mellowed to a nice licorice flavor that reminded me of Earl Grey tea (spiced with Oil of Bergamut). Generally, I found that the deeper I went into this cigar, the more I enjoyed it's flavor. About half-way, I started to see the burn problems that others here have noted. It seemed to kick in where the RG begins to taper. The Perfecto shape was also awkward to hold, the shorter it got. The wrapper developed a slight split right at the end... and the uneven burn became exaggerated. Three things I'll give this cigar -- (1) it has a lot of flavor personality and it kept my attention; (2) it is a very great looking cigar; and (3) it gave me one helluva nicotine kick. Overall, I would say the middle was most enjoyable, and it finished a little disappointingly, but really, this is an obviously fine and enjoyable cigar (thus my overall 7 rating).

"Davy Jones Locker"

Review Notes: The wife and I booked a schooner cruise off the coast of Maine and on the way up we stopped off in New Hampshire for provisions. Booze and stogies. Live Free or Die baby! I was in heaven in the huge walk-in humidor there. Iím used to a cabinet-size display at best. I grabbed a handful of cigars Iíve been looking for (and a few I didnít know I was) and some flavored ones for the wife and we scooted on up the coast to Rockland. I smoked this Perdomo on deck the first day over the misty waters under sail. So as not to disturb the other passengers I had to keep chasing the wind moving from one gunwale of the ship to the other doing my damndest to remain leeward as the captain tacked around the islands. Burn problems others describe were multiplied by the Maine wind, but the flavor was all right for the first half, wood and spice tempered by the salt air. Then came the yaw. It got bland and frankly boring at the halfway point. It tunneled its way deep into a hard-drawing death just before the galley crew rang the bell for supper. Fare-thee-well my sea-going stogie companion.

"Some problems, but not bad at all"

Review Notes: I was hesitating a bit on this one, but it turned out to be enjoyable-with a few problems. The light was off somewhat, the ash was plain ugly, and there was an uneven burn and a little tunnelling. But, it had a comfortable draw and the flavor was very nice indeed, starting off with a kind of spicy-cinnamony kick that gradually turned to nutty with a little coffee thrown in. The burn did finally correct itself by the time it reached the nub. I wouldn't mind aging a few of these to see what happens.

Review Notes: Good draw, lots of smoke, slightly uneven burn, chewy, woodsy taste, medium smoke. Like the maduros better.
