"Good, Not Great"

Review Notes: Vendor’s Claim: “The oldest true Connecticut shade wrapper on the market is featured on the Vintage 1999 series. This mild, cedary cigar changes in complexion to a smooth medium body as it’s smoked. This well-balanced cigar is exquisite in appearance and construction.” The Stats: Size: 6.25 x 52 Style: Torpedo Wrapper: Connecticut Binder: Nicaragua Filler: Dominican & Nicaraguan The Experience: Initial Impression— I’m not sure what possessed me to purchase this cigar. I don’t mean that in a negative way, I just legitimately don’t remember why (out of all the cigars available in the store) I chose this one. Perhaps it was because I’ve heard good things about Rocky Patel (RP), but it’s a stalwart in the cigar community so I wanted to be a part of the “cool kids” group, I guess. Appearance— I know that one reason I picked it was because of its Connecticut wrapper. I just love those wrappers. It was oily, but not gross oily. I found that it cut cleanly, had a baby smooth wrapper leaf on it and its construction—impeccable. Lighting/Burning/Ash— This stick lit evenly and quickly, with no problem getting it to maintain its light, not a re-light, not once! It had an even burn from beginning to end, that was also nice and something that I give major points too in my rating. It’s resting/smoldering stage provided just enough smoke to let you know when it might be time to take another puff on it so as to prevent it going out. But when it was resting, the smoke produced was light enough to not be annoying. There’s nothing I hate more than when a cigar burns too fast causing a great deal of smoke to come from the stick, making an overall haze in my smoking room. Consistency/Draw—The draw was good at the beginning and through the half way point. I didn’t actually finish the smoke but that was no fault of the cigar, I just lost the desire to smoke it any further. That said, the wrapper stayed intact and I found the draw to be even and consistent for as long as I did smoke it. Maintenance/Flavor— It had a nice flavor, although it was rather bland. I find that more and more, vegetal smokes bore me to the extent that I can’t finish them. Smoking should be an enjoyable, relaxing sport. If you’re bored with your smoke half-way thru, note that and stay away from it in the future. Don’t get me wrong, this cigar smoked with the flavor it’s supposed to have, but I find that I really enjoy the spice of a Cuesta-Rey or the pepper of a Romeo Y Julieta. Reflection & Rating This really is a fine smoke. One that I might even consider trying again in the near future. But at the time I was smoking this cigar, it just couldn’t hold my attention and as such, I let it go out near the half way mark. It is a more medium to full bodied stick, I will concede that point…perhaps that’s the reason why I didn’t care for it as much. But it is a smoke that I would recommend others to try if they’re looking for a higher end smoke of equally high quality. For that reason, I would rate this smoke as a B+

"It's an ace for a change of pace"

Review Notes: If like me you're, at times, inclined to go for a milder selection than your usual faire...I'd try these as an option. Mine had a clean even burn, maintained a mellow consistent flavor the entire time and for all intents and purposes filled the bill as an enjoyable experience. Mine was a gift so I can't speak for the value but if you can get them for the average price listed I don't think you'll be offended? They'll just plain nice!

"Not bad at all"

Review Notes: Was in a mood for something different tried three cigars this turned out to be the best of the three. Mine was a bit tight on the draw but not so bad that it was annoying. Its a pretty cigar wel made nice construction. I expected a very mild cigar with the conneticut wrapper and found it so but with very nice nut tones and mild spice. This is a mild cigar to be sure but if you like that sort you will probably like this cigar. I prefer a little more body and strength to my cigars and won't make this a regular in my humidor. But this is good smoke for those who like the milder cigars with flavors that keep your interest.

Review Notes: Amazingly silky smooth draw and notes of light cedar and soft cocoa. Reminded me of a R&J Reserva Real, but this blew it out of the water. This is a 2006 MUST SMOKE.
