"Too Much of a Good Thing?"

Review Notes: This cigar may be an example of too much of a good thing. I enjoyed the taste of the Cameron Trilogy Robusto, nothing fantastic, but a good cigar. However when smoking the torpedo, I found myself struggling to finish it. I just got tired of the taste after about 45 minutes. I wanted to toss it, but the cheapskate in me refused to quit before the band. Maybe it was my mood or maybe it's just so darm one-dimensional. Anyway I'll stick with the Robusto.

Review Notes: This is another one of those great for a buck or so cigars. You can always get these cheap and they are always a rock solid performer. Great shape - this sucka ain't gonna roll away on ya - and always a nice solid cigar. Cameroon wrappers are a personal favorite and I've smoked handfulls of these and have never been disappointed. Might be the ultimate in yard gars. It sure gets my vote! Don't let the price of these things fool ya - it's a solid performer and a class cigar.

Review Notes: Cool shape with some great flavor from the Cameroon wrapper. However, burned unenvenly throughout. Was expecting more, but novel to handout as gifts. Maybe time in the humi will help

"Fun Cigar"

Review Notes: Scored a 5-pack from Cbid for $9. Tried one last night after about three weeks sitting. It lit very easy and the burn and draw was good. The wife and I sipped on fortified hard punch and took pot shots at the starlings while I smoked this one. The wife is a damn fine shot with the Red Ryder, pinginí the old steel pole on the Chicken Hill with alarming regularity. We didnít get any of the starlings (never do), but the Trilogy hit the mark. It had a toasty flavor with some cedar and hardy Cameroon spice. Nothing wrong there, but it didn't jump out with a WOW flavor. It got too dark in the gloam to make out starlings and robins, so we sat back and I nubbed this one. I even used a pine twig to roach it. Mmm. Excellent. The others in the humi can only get better with time. Cool shape too.

Review Notes: DATE: 2006/05/05 REVIEWER: Timothy "Texan_To_The_End" Piper CIGAR: Trilogy "Old School" Native Cameroon SIZE: 6.1" X 52 ORIGIN: Honduran WRAPPER: Cameroon BINDER: Honduran FILLER: Nicaraguan SHAPE: Tri-Pressed Torpedo AGE: In humidor since 2006/03/13 VENDOR: CBid 5-pack purchase, $2.20 each AMBIENCE: 1PM, a sunny warm afternoon. Breezy and low humidity. BEVERAGE: A&W Root Beer APPEARANCE: Wrapper a bit more delicate than the Corojo, smooth but no oiliness at all. PRE_LIGHT: Very little taste on the pre-light; these usually are sort of creamy. DRAW: A bit looser that the typical tri-pressed draw. FIRST_THIRD: Had to repair a cracked flaky cap. Not much taste, just a little cedary. I'm surprised at the lack of taste, these were very flavorful from the box I got last year. SECOND_THIRD: A little bit of pepper with the wood taste, but getting a bit harsh. Tastes like it had been left in the sun for a day and dried out. FINAL_THIRD: Turned very hot and lost all flavor. Didn't finish it. BURN: Typical even burn but burned rather quickly. ASH: Dark grey flaking ash with yellow center. SMOKE: Dark heavy woody smoke, decent volume, but got hot. STRENGTH: Medium FLAVOUR: This stick was pretty weak and flavorless. FINISH: None to speak of. SMOKE_TIME: 45 minutes. IMPRESSION: This was a recently purchased 5 pack from CBid. Perhaps it was left on a loading dock somewhere, but it was very dry. I cut the remainder in half later and it was bone-dry all the way through. RATING: 3 out of a possible TEN wooden matchsticks. NOTE: I rate the box purchase from last year at an 8 out of 10. COMMENTS: This was a disappointing cigar, not at all like the box purchase. I'll have to put the rest of these in a higher-humidity situation for a few months to see if they improve. C.I. claims that Trilogy is now making the "Old School" tri-pressed version for them as an exclusive. Perhaps they've cheapened up the contents? Rolling them in the Arizona desert? Or maybe this is just a reason to avoid CBid for serious purchases.
