Review Notes: DATE: 2006/04/30 REVIEWER: Timothy "Texan_To_The_End" Piper CIGAR: Trilogy "Old School" Authentic Corojo Torpedo SIZE: 6.1" X 52 ORIGIN: Nicaraguan WRAPPER: Dominican Corojo BINDER: Nicaraguan FILLER: Nicaraguan SHAPE: Tri-Pressed Torpedo AGE: In my humidor since 2005/07/10 VENDOR: Cigar-Bid box purchase, approx. $2.25 US per stick AMBIENCE: Sunday afternoon, 1:00 PM. Sunny, warm and low humidity. Very still air. Reading an old book and taking notes on this cigar. BEVERAGE: Nothing. APPEARANCE: The tip was slightly bent, wrapper was smooth with a few veins. Almost oily feel; will definitely get oily with some age on them. PRE_LIGHT: Tastes good enough to eat by my judgement. DRAW: Snipping off a 1/4" to allow a relatively small hole, draw was tight due to the tri-pressed shape. FIRST_THIRD: I always think I need to skewer these when I first light one, but draw loosens up after a few puffs. Delicious woody, chocolate blend of tastes. Saliva and smoke taste were pretty much equal. SECOND_THIRD: Applied toothpick to loosen up the draw a bit. Flavors blended together a bit and a bit of pepper started to show up. Saliva tasted better than the actual smoke at this point. FINAL_THIRD: Saliva got slightly bitter, probably due to lack of age, and storage at higher RH levels. Still was very good. Pepper taste became dominant in the last two inches I smoked. Note that I use a paper napkin to daub excess saliva from my cigars, as I really salivate a lot while smoking. BURN: Slightly uneven for first few inches, but evened out nicely for remainder of the smoke. ASH: A mottled grey/dark-grey flakey ash with an almost yellow center. Ligero possibly? SMOKE: Medium grey-yellowish smoke, less volume than these usually give off. Slightly peppery on the tongue. STRENGTH: Medium strength all the way until the very end. FLAVOUR: Generally a cedar-chocolate type of taste, with pepper developing around the half-way point. With the Corojo wrapper, I like the saliva taste as much if not more than the taste of the actual smoke. FINISH: I left about 1.5" when I was finished. I think I tend to smoke a bit too fast, so the nub is a bit too warm for me. Also with this one the pepper taste started to get a little more than I like. SMOKE_TIME: About 45 minutes. IMPRESSION: I like all the Trilogy Tri-pressed quite a bit. I have some of the newer round ones, but they just don't seem to taste the same. RATING: 8 out of a possible TEN wooden matchsticks. COMMENTS: Bear in mind that I've never smoked any Cubans or any very expensive cigars; my ratings are based on cigars ranging from $1 to $6 per stick.

Review Notes: Interesting shape, one of my favorite Corojo's. Medium bodied flavorful stick that draws well and burn was never a problem. I'll keep some of these fellas in my humidor, when I'm in the mood for a good Corojo.

"Quite a nince corojo"

Review Notes: The triangular shape is interesting. At first I thought it was just a marketing gimmic. Then I sat my cigar on the table and realized that not rolling off was useful. In any case, I didn't find draw or burn problems due to the press. These are quite nice looking, the corojo wrapper smelled great and provided a nice medium taste. The Cameroon was a lot smoother, but if you like a bit more taste in your cigar I would recommend these.
