"Great flavor! Weak construction..."

Review Notes: Difficult to light. Has a very very firm draw. Perhaps it’s a little too firm; it’s tough to get any smoke out of this cigar at first. But once it’s thoroughly lit, it remains so without much difficulty. Very spicy with a strong peppery flavor over a gentle roastiness. Later a distinctive nuttiness, namely cashews and almonds, becomes apparent. Mellow, leathery finish. This cigar suffers from a questionable construction (it’s rolled a little too tight and it burns VERY unevenly) but I suppose the firm draw at least keeps it from burning too hot. When you get down to it, this cigar is fairly complex and quite flavorful. A good smoke! The only thing that prevents it from getting a 9 or a 10 is the excessive tightness of the draw and the uneven burn.

Review Notes: I had one of these in Santiago de Cuba, bought right from the Casa del Habanos as a single. They look beautiful with light tan wrapper and cute pigtail. But somehow, many of the cigars from this area had a wierd, pungent smell and flavour of young, zingy, grassy pungency. I won't rate the cigar because I think it's unfair based on this one experience, but I couldn't finish it, which is unlike me. I think he same smell has been dissipating from my other cigars brought back on the same trip after a couple of months of rest. Probably my fault for rushing in, but if they're for sale you'd think they are good to smoke (though not so for wine, so why expect it for cigars?).

Review Notes: This cigar was horrible. Nothing to it at all. its not that it tasted bad, its that for the price I paid it din't taste good. I've spent much less for a WHOLE lot more character and flavor. I'll never buy this cigar again. If I were you I'd stay away. Not worth it.

"Fantastic Smoke"

Review Notes: The Coloniales are the finest of the Trinidad lines, especially for those who prefer less-full bodied Cubans. I don't recommend buying them in singles or 5 packs, but by the box/cab. They age exceptionally well, but are great right out of the box; my only real issue is that you'll get one or two 'sour' a box, usually from the top row in the case, and though they rarely smoke 'sour' the entire cigar, they can be enough to put someone off of the Coloniales permanently. I enjoy the line so much that I've gutted out many of these, waiting for the flavor to improve, which it usually does before I can consider the smoke a waste.

Review Notes: I picked these up as I love the other Cuban Trinidads & wanted to try them all, and after reading other reviews I wasn't sure what I was going to get. Well I wasn't disappointed at all! Great construction & burn with a smooth med-mild flavor with hints of sweet coffee. All & all a great smoke in the Trinidad tradition!
