Review Notes:
Well, my first attempt at rating this didn't go through, so here it goes again...
I tried the 1916 Carona for two reasons: it was given a 90+ review by afficianato and it was under 5 bucks (3.85) at the local shop. Now mind you, my tastes are for cool maduros , typically churchills or rothchilds, or mild-to-medium maduros (don't ask why, but examples are padron 3000, romeo y julieta reserve maduro - rothchild. CAO maduro, etc)... but this one just didn't cut it for me. Too bitter with little spiciness, compared to the ginger-red wrapper and cedar wrap expectations. Better than a swisher sweet, i suppose... barely... for taste.
On the positive side, this had the best 'clinging' salt-n-pepper ash I've had in a LONG long time, the burn was slow and perfect, and I had to try to find a veign in the wrapper. The draw was somewhat limited; minimal smoke drawn but potentcy made up for that. My written opinion in my journal says 'like a straw on fire', meaning the smoke was abundant, but I could have puckered less with a lemon than with trying to suck smoke out of this thing. It was ok, but i'm not buying it as a corona again... Perhaps a larger ring will change things? For the price, I can suffer another one ;)
