Review Notes: I am a firm believer in cigar aging. The "Cigar" seemed beyond hope when I last reviewed it. It was one of the biggest disappointments I've had since I discovered premium cigars. Something came over me tonight as I rummaged for my nightly smoke, I actually selected The Cigar. I figure it's been a year and a half since I tried one and if it still sucks I'll toss it. Lighting was a little difficult because all the draw was going through the center. Finally she's torched and low and behold there was flavor, good flavors of wood, coffee and vanilla. Now I know you're thinking his palate has deceased or he's drinking tequila straight from the bottle or worse he's lost his friggin' mind. No, I've only had three beers and The Cigar is past half way and still tastes pretty good. Ultimately my point is long term aging has the potential to save any cigar. Buying 2 boxes ( 1-churchill & 1-torpedo) of dog rockets and finding 2 years later they are now very smokable is proof positive of the magic of aging.

"Hype over substance."

Review Notes: I've only been an "aficionado" for about 3 years now and I keep hearing less than admirable things about Perdomo. All the Perdomos I smoked prior to "The Cigar" seemed fairly similar in taste with other distinguihing characteristics identifying each line. "The Cigar" has the singular characteristic of tasting like burnt tree bark. It takes big kahunas to hype this dog?
