Review Notes: Lots of problems with a Padilla sampler I bought. Construction is very poor. The prior reviewer takes me to task based on my experience. I was just commenting on how we all have different experiences, and isn't it strange how I can love one cigar and others don't appreciate it. Here I pointed out that others seem to love this cigar and I found it unsatisfactory. I didn't mean to criticize others' opinion like wongster did to me. Biased? Of course. That's what reviews are. They are subjective experiences. I'm certainly not negatively biased against Padilla cigars. I dislike some (Obsidian for instance), but 1932 for instance is one of my very favorite cigars. When the cherry falls off the end of a burning cigar due to a weak ash, what is wrong with commenting on that? I didn't think we were supposed to address others' reviews on this site anyway, just give our own opinion. Before this I always sought out wongster's reviews due to our similar taste in cigars. I'm a little surprised the moderators allowed his comment, actually. I've been reviewing pipe tobacco and cigars for over 10 years, and I've never had anyone do this before. This will be my last contribution to this resource.

"There must be some mistake"

Review Notes: I can't believe I'm reviewing the same cigar as the previous 3 reviewers. I don't know how many of my favorite cigars are rated poorly by folks on here. Then I smoke possibly the worst cigar I've ever smoked and I see it's rated 8.68 before my entry. The cigar seemed under-filled. It was light and not firm at all. About a 1/2 " in the cherry fell completely out/off of the foot, leaving an unlit cigar in my hand! The ash was surely the flakiest I've ever encountered. Flakier than any Cuban sandwich cigar. It would fall off immediately. About half way through, I could see a tunnel when I looked down the cigar from the foot! It was just empty space where a leaf should be. Despite all that it did taste pretty good and burn quite evenly. The wrapper was toothy, yet pretty. This toro was part of a Padilla '68 sampler that included 4 sizes of 5 cigars for $50. The Churchill has been the best, but they're under-filled too. The torpedo was almost this bad. Maybe the sampler is built of seconds or rejects. If so, that's a poor way to market a premium cigar. Even at $2.50 these are not a good value.
