Review Notes: After a couple of dismal encounters with other AF products, I decided to give it another shot with the higest of the high in comparison with the Opus (same league). It lit up nicely, draw was somewhat tight but that might have to do with the optimal cutting point on this pyramid shape. Cut to deep your lips are on the wrapper, cut to short and your sucking through a coctail straw. Taste/flavor started off really rough, more like earthy grassy tones, but an inch into it started mellowing out into a creamy nutty spice flavor. It did not start producing some serious smoke until halfway in, burn was consistent and draw became much better, but the flavor just stayed with this creamy spice theme, towards the end I thought some one spiked this with a bottle of cayenne pepper. I guess over the years my taste for cigars have changed and I expect more complex flavor, especially when you are in the higher lines of certain well known brands. I feel like I could have gotten the same taste from the Don Carlos I had the other day for almost half the money. Interestingly though, this was more creamier than the Don Carlos. I prefer the Hemmingway blend better I suppose, if I had to stay with a AF line. If you feel like spending a few bucks on a spicy but smooth stick, this may be the ticket. It's not bad, but I need more flavor in my life.
